Kahler Inn and Suites - Mayo Clinic Area - Rochester

Better than the Kahler Grand but problems follow this chain of hotels: Broken ice Machines and Poor Room/Hallway temp control. Even though the Kahler Inn and Suites have their individual temp control registers in the room, this one did not work (Was Preset for Energy Control) which means you could not over-ride the register to cool the room below 72 […] degrees (was too hot). The beds are better than the Kahler Grand-more comfortable. Room comes with small refrigs which is an extra charge in the Kahler Grand. Handicap rooms are not available at the Kahler Inn and Suites while they are in limited supply at the Kahler Grand. The rooms at the Kahler Inn and Suites are cleaner than the Kahler Grand. Free Breakfast is not included at the Kahler Grand like it is at the Kahler Inn and Suites. Elevators and the pool are frequently broken/down at the Kahler Grand. One extra benefit of the Kahler Inn and Suites-You can turn down room service (other than one night stay) and get a five dollar credit on your bill. Love that offer! Lisätietoja

I would have had a much better stay if not for the evening manager. A hotel employee by the name of Edis helped me with the check in process. Edis was courteous, professional and efficient. As part of the check in process, Edis entered my credit card into the hotel computer system for incidental purchases. Later, I received a call from the evening manager […] saying that they needed my credit card information for incidental purchases. I indicated to him that they already had my credit card. He insisted that they did not. When I went to the front desk and told they why I had returned, the front desk evening manger, with a touch of anger in his voice said that it was policy that I provide a credit card for incidentals. I reiterated that they already had my credit card information -- and furthermore, "this gentleman here", gesturing to Edis, "entered that information into your system." Instead of accepting my assertion with grace, suggesting a computer glitch or a mechanical failure of the card reader as the cause, the evening manager berated Edis in front of me for "his mistake". As a manager, he has much to learn, namely: "Praise in public, critique in private." I was instantly under the impression that here was a little man in a position far above his skill level. While I would gladly return to the hotel if Edis is at the front desk, I will never return to the Kahler Inn and Suites while the current disaster of an evening manager is still in their employ. This hotel is so convenient for us as we have appointments throughout the day at Mayo. The first time we stayed here the room was not really clean but this stay was better and our room was very clean and comfortable.

We were there for mdical reasons and the location was exactly across the street from Mayo Clinic. Very convenient.

Convenient, excellent short-stay services, good value for the money. Multiple adults in one room need queen size beds. Loved the free breakfast and avaliable coffee in coffee shop. Fitness center and pool very clean and well-equipped. Parking structure a challenge for anything bigger than a subcompact.

Perfect location if you have business with Mayo. We also liked the 12:noon checkout time as it gave us enough time to see the doctor and get back to check out.

I have been to the Mayo Clinic over 3 dozen times and the Kahler Inn is the place to stay-cheaper than any other hotels within walking distance of the Mayo Clinic ( one exception- the Days Inn which is not acceptable-old, shabby and pathetic). The Kahler Inn and Suites also offers a free breakfast, and it is nicer and cleaner than the Kahler Grand. […] I have stayed at the Kahler Grand many many times and it is not so grand! The front desk is one of the worst that I've ever had to deal with. This is a old hotel right across the street from the Mayo Clinic. Would stay here again, only due to the location of the hotel.

Location, Location, Location.... Easy 3 minute walk and your in Mayo Clinic. In between tests, walk back to your room to pass the time. Hotel has mid 70's feel. Rooms are good for the time your in them. OK breakfast with the usual items plus bisquits and gravy. Small cafe and nice caribou coffe shop. Staff helpful and friendly.

Located right across the street from Mayo and free parking even makes it better. Restaurant offers nice variety of food and staff is very friendly.

You can't get any closer to the Mayo complex...just across the street! We stayed here a couple years ago and were pleased to see that the hotel has been spruced up. The rooms have been remodeled, free breakfast moved to better dining area adjacent to their restaurant. Staff is helpful and pleasant. The hotel was clean and close to Mayo; however, the service was terrible and the pool area was very small with tons of unsupervised kids rough-housing. The sign in the pool area said no unsupervised kids under 16 but it wasn't enforced and no chairs were even available in the pool area. Employees had the personality of a couch cushion. Beds and pillows […] were very hard. Not the relaxing stay we hoped for or paid for. And the topper was the view out of our window consisted of smeared bird droppings. Lisätietoja

Breakfast was FREE, Parking was FREE!! But breakfast was fine. Not great but good with a nice variety. I am always looking for very healthy whole grain choices with low fat low sugar yogurt. Just wasn't there.

Front desk staff very curt and stiff--not at all welcoming. Sink hair-dryer outlet did not work at all. Location is great, with tunnel entrance.

I ordered a PURE room, which was very nice. Both my son and I have allergies, so it was great to wake up without being all stuffy. Because I was having surgery at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, the location was excellent. The room, itself, was very nice. I would stay there again if needed.

Location of this hotel is great, but thermostat really needed to be fixed in room we had it at 86 degrees and it was so cold in there.

I stayed at the Kahler Inn and Suites years ago and it was a little on the dumpy side. When I reserved the room for my last trip to the Mayo, I was apprehensive about staying there, but it is just so darn close to the Mayo, it is hard to turn down. When we arrived at the Kahler Inn and Suites I as surprised to find the suite rooms were remodeled and […] were on par with many of the 4-5 star hotels I've stayed in. Comfy beds with crisp cotton sheets, nice bathroom products, and a nice flat screen tv. My only complaint is that the kitchenette was lacking the the necessities of kitchenness, but it wasn't a big deal. The parking can be a pain, but the worst case scenario is that you will have to park in the Mayo lot across the street (which is validated by the Kahler Inn and Suites). They even allowed us to bring our large dog. The fee was a little steep ($100 for the entire visit), but given the condition of the room, I felt it was worth it for a longer stay of 5 days. Finally, the location is AWESOME. A short subway walk and you are in the Mayo Clinic! They also have a Jimmy Johns and a Caribou Coffee on the first level, if you are in to that sort of thing. Our stay at the Kahler Inn and Suites in Rochesster, MN was a very good experience. We felt safe and comfortable in our clean hotel room. The hotel was in a perfect location for me. I had appts at Mayo and it was just a hallway away! The staff was helpful and the beds were very comfortable. I will stay here again next year on a return visit to Mayo.

perfect if u r going to the Mayo since they are connected. Also many places to eat within a 3 block area.....

A friend and I met up to celebrate our 40th birthdays over the holiday break with a new Xbox. The Samsung HDTV in the room was perfectly suited for this, and we had a great time.

We was looking for a economical, well located hotel next to Mayo for 3. We was pleasantly surprised that parking was below the hotel, only a short distance to Mayo via the subway, only a few blocks from very nice restraunts, and the room was all new. The room was clean and the beds were nice and firm. Bathrooms are slightly small but it had a sink and […] mirror outside that worked just fine. Pool, a common area, workout room, and breakfast on the second floor. Caribou coffee, Jimmy Johns, and Center St. Cafe in the hotel also. Convienience store out the front door and 2 doors down. Desk staff and maid all cordial. 300 First, Victoria's, Chester's, and michaels restraunts excellent and only about 3 blocks away. Atmosphere and food wonderful at Chester's!!! Needed medical docs printed out....no way to do it from a thumb drive. I had to wait 30 minutes for my hotels.com reservation to get there after I made it, they said that is the issue with third party reservations, never had that problem any where else.

Convenient and clean. The folks at the front desk were more businesslike than cordial. Less formality and a more welcoming attitude at the front desk would be desirable.

Would like to see a microwave in all rooms

The location was wonderful! It was great to be able to walk to the Mayo Clinic without having to go outside since it is attached to the building. The rooms were very clean, I would highly recommend staying here and plan on staying here every time we have an appt at Mayo Clinic.

We found ourselves in need of a reasonably-priced hotel close to the Mayo Clinic and we found it at The Kahler Inn & Suites. We had some concerns due to a few negative reviews but were very pleased with the hotel and its amenities. The remodeling was tasteful, the room clean and the staff was professional, pleasant and caring. The easy access to Mayo […] (without having to go outside) was welcomed during the zero degree temperatures. While the hotel itself lacked parking, we were able to park right across the street in the parking garage for free as the hotel validated our ticket. We did not use our car during our stay because of the easy access to most of downtown from the Kahler through the walking subway system. The only negative for us was the bottom sheet of the bed was not a fitted sheet (neither was the mattress pad) and we had to completely remake the bed before we could use it because it was not properly made. If I tell you how good this was for us then there will not be any rooms available for us when we return. It is the best for every reason!!!

Difficult to regulate the temperature of the room.

This hotel was perfect for our recent trip to Rochester as we needed close proximity to the Mayo Clinic. Everything that we needed was within an easy walk and we didn't have to go outside if we didn't want to. Covered parking was included. A microwave would have been nice. The restaurant was awful. I expect most people only eat there once! The "free" breakfast didn't show much creativity but there was good bread, cold cereals, peanut butter, the usual assortment of muffins and sweet rolls, and decent coffee. I was attracted to this hotel for the location, the free parking and the free breakfast. The first thing that happened was that they gave me a key to a room that was already occupied. Thank God the occupants were out when I barged into their room. When I finally got to my room, I was dissatisfied with the size of the room. It was very simply furnished […] and unremarkable, but clean. The best part of this hotel was that it was right across the street from the Mayo Clinic. I also had a great nights sleep in the comfortable bed. The breakfast was o.k. Another thing to consider is that many local food establishments close up early in the evening, so plan to eat early. Very clean, nice rooms. Free covered parking & free breakfast with a big selection. Only complaint is that there should be more signage in the hotel. The pool was hard to find as was the breakfast. Also, it was hard to figure out where to get to the shops in the subway level. Overall, excellent experience!

The rooms are very comfortable. However, I think the breakfast room was very uninviting. The cafe needs to be refurbished.

The room was remodeled and very nice. Subway and skyway access to everywhere I needed to go! Best place to stay if you are Mayo Clinic- bound.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Hotel staff friendly, professional, and accommodating. Easy access to the Mayo Clinic and downtown Rochester. Plenty of nearby resources such as restaurants and convenience stores.
