Colony South at Andrews Airforce Base - Clinton

The room was clean, it seems they are in the process of upgrading the hotel, the room was supposed to have a microwave and refrigerator, no microwave,(did not request one) the hall wallpaper is so old that it is peeling off the wall and rugs need replacing, I was on the third floor, so I think the renovation was not complete, new refrigerator, and flat […] screen TV, bed was comfortable and breakfast was good and hot, staff went out of their way to help. All in all will give this hotel a 4 1/2. Was very happy with my stay, was born and raised in the area, this hotel is over thirty years old, and they seem to take care of it. I really think this is a great place to stay. The only problem was parking when the club was open Wed, Fri and Sat. Guest staying at the hotel had to park a bit aways from the main entrance while club guest are closer to the main doors. Didn't like this since I was a guest staying at the hotel.

We stayed here for three days to sight-see in DC. The staff was helpful and switched our rooms when the reservation wasn't quite right. It has a great work out room, but our 15 year old athlete son wasn't allowed to use it because he wasn't 18 and the pool isn't available sometimes because they have classes for the public. I didn't like that...when […] you stay over between days, you want to be able to use the slow times to play in the pool with the family. Breakfast was well presented but lacked a little in taste. The carpeting is very worn and needs to be replaced but they were replacing pictures in our wing and perhaps a renovation is taking place. Wednesday night is party night in the bar and can get a bit crowded and noisy. We took the free shuttle to the Metro and the first trip in was great but the second man left without picking us up and we waited for over 30 minutes at the station and he played the radio to ear-piercing levels....not fun. The next day we drove to the station and parked our car...paid $4.50 to do it, but no waiting or uncomfortable trip. I stay in the area frequently and had yet to find a hotel that had a reasonable price and wasn't in an area where I worried about my car being broken into. There are fairly priced hotels in this area, however they are in very sketchy areas. For the price, it's a steal, and is in a very nice area. Staff was very friendly.

The hotel itself is decent. The rooms are clean, as is the hotel overall. The gym is pretty good. It is not ultra-modern by any stretch of the imagination, but it has a lot of equipment. The rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is basic, i.e. eggs, sausage, pancakes, & cereal. It's not really healthy. The BIGGEST problem I had at the Colony South […] was with the free shuttle to the Metro. The drivers are unreliable and can leave you waiting at the Metro for 20+ minutes, when the hotel is only about 10 minutes away. One driver also took me for a joyride in the evening, taking the scenic route for some reason, which took 30+ minutes to get back to the hotel, as opposed to 10. They are moody and temperamental. room key would not work , switched to differert room and same issue with door key. phone did not work and was missing keys - no room service menu in room and no directory to local attractions.the tv had poor reception and maid service just turned the sheets over - i know because my daughter spilled pizza sauce on the bed and it was still there. the […] pool is shared with local classes that are being taught all the time limiting the space you can use. whirlpool was not in use. this place has a chance to be a great place but they just don't try hard enough. My stay was an excellent experience from staff to the room itself..Staff was quite gracious..Room very spacious,clean, and most of all a very very comfortable bed..would return without a doubt,and gladly recommend to others!!!

The manager, and staff were class A in dealing with any problems that you may have had. They went out of their way to may your stay enjoyable. When visting Maryland again, this will be the hotel that I will stay in You won't be disappointed. The shutter takes you to connect to all of the must see monuments at the Capitol.

Is an excellent property to stay at. It is convenient to all of the local venues, shopping, restaurants, entertainment and they have restaurants and entertainment on site. The breakfast buffet was one of the best that I have experienced in a long time as a compliment to your stay.

I found the hotel to be an excellent value. The decor is a little dated, but it is clean, the staff is courteous and the service is top notch. The hotel offers a shuttle to the Metro station but it is only a few minutes drive. I found it much more convenient to drive to the station. All day parking was cheaper than tipping the shuttle driver! O

The staff made sure that we were comfortable and that all our needs were met. Everyone smiled and helped satisfy our requests. The room was well appointed and maintained. We enjoyed the continental breakfast, that included eggs, meat, and make-your-own waffles.

The bed was comfortable...they are in the midst of renovations and I was told that my room was renovated however it looked dated. The lamps were mint green, the socket plate wasn't fitted, the hotel had flowered wallpaper everywhere. But that's all surface stuff. The staff in the hotel and restaurant were phenomenal. THE HOTEL AND FACILITIES WERE EXCELLENT AND CONVENIENT FOR MY NEEDS. I WLL DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN AND WOULD RECOMMEND HIGHLY TO MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. THE RESTAURANT AND CLUB ISIDE OFTHE HOTEL WERE NICE AND COMFORTABLE.

People come to the Washington,DC area on business and can REASONABLY expect a hotel to have a basic cable TV package that contains CNN and C-Span. Not only does this property lack these two viotal channels for any businessperson working in the DC area, it has a less/less/less than basic TV packaging. With FOUR espn's but only ONE news channel( fox), […] the Fox channel barely works, and CNBC and HL is not a universal news package.I have stayed in hotels with FAR less cleanliness, services, etc. than this one but ALL have had better BASIC TV service. I stayed at the Colony South when attending a conference at National Harbor. It is a lot cheaper than staying in National Harbor. A decent breakfast is available and the rooms are clean. I didn't get opportunity to try the indoor pool.

Overall, the hotel was nice; but the thing that stood out when I first entered thru the doors was how dirty the lobby and hallway carpets were. Even though they had dim lighting around the check-in desk , you could still see that they needed some serious steam cleaning. An affordable hotel with a great staff, clean and comfortable rooms, and onsite activities that will make you want to spend most of your vacation time at the hotel. If you are on a budget, but want a nice place to stay this is it.

The was my first time staying at this hotel and I was very pleased with my stay. Everything was concenvient location, shopping, dining and the interstate. I didn't have to leave the hotel at all. We had a clean and comfortable room and bed The motel was well kept. Everyone was nice and very courteous. One lovely receptionist went way past "nice" when, after I told her how horrific our trip to the motel has been (we had passed a turnoff on the route we were on and were lost and it took 2 hours to find our way to the motel), she volunteered to […] drive us to the Lorton Auto train, which was our destination, and she drove us all the way there! I very much enjoyed my stay at Colony South. The hotel was very convenient to Andrews Air Force base. The staff was friendly and the room was spacious and clean. The hotel has an indoor pool, racket ball courts, saunas, outdoor tennis courts, a running trail and the largest, best-equipped fitness center I have ever seen in a hotel. While visiting Washington DC, we looked for a reasonably priced hotel within a close proximity to the city. This fit the bill on both accounts. Thank God for GPS because it was a pretty easy drive into the city. We would leave the hotel around 10 am and would be in downtown DC within 20 to 30 minutes. It's a basic room, two beds, a bathroom, a set of drawers, a TV, a table and chairs. That pretty much sums up the room. It is very reasonable for the rate we paid and it offers some nice perks. It has a shuttle service between the hotel and the metro with consistent hourly runs. The breakfast was nice. It's been commented before that there was only one breakfast voucher per day given for multiple guests. We found out that when you enter the restaurant, give them the vouchers given to you at check-in. We had two vouchers for two guests for two nights. We handed them both vouchers and they checked them off and then we requested them to be returned for the following day. You can reuse the vouchers for the entire duration of your trip. The 2 main resturrants were overpriced for what you got and the food was not that great. Wait staff was very poor.One night wanted a cover charge just to eat in Lounge.The shuttle service was not that grea t,. only ran from 6 am to 7 pm.The carpet in our room was very dirty.

When we showed up and checked in all of the staff was wonderful. We went to see our room and found the bed most recently slept in, the toilet still had something floating in it and the drawers still had some clothes in them. The staff gave us an "I'm sorry" and switched our room. There was 4 of us staying in the room and each day I had to ask for more […] than the 2 towels left there. The bath tub was so slippery when wet my 7 year old grand daughter fell in the shower. I went to sit in one of the 2 wooden chairs by the desk and fell out the side. The arm to the chair had been broken and placed back on. When we turned the air conditioner on in our "non-smoking" room the whole room then smelled like and old ash tray. I enjoyed my stay at the Colony Hotel South. It was 15 miles from Washington D.C.. They had an AWESOME Shuttle Service to the Metro Train. The service was on the GREEN LINE starting at the Branch Ave. The lobby area was like the COMFORT of HOME. It had REAL Hardwood FLOORS. It has a Fireplace, and piano. The bar / lounge looked outstanding. They had […] a live band, and on some nights -- Karoake. The breakfast was a FULL Hot Breakfast - in a very nice DINING area, and it was also FREE. They even have an outside dining area. Enticing " Indoor " Pool. I regretted not bringing my swimsuit. People were swimming morning, and at night. You do not have to worry about the weather. Great hotel at a great price. It felt like we were staying at a resort. Large pool, expanded workout area with lots of equipment, loved the rose garden courtyard and walking trail around the pond. The free shuttle to the metro was perfect to get us into the city after we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet. Looks like they are beginning to do some updates to the guest rooms, and hopefully they'll work on the floral wallpaper in the lobby that is a bit overwhelming also. It looks as though they are trying to draw crowds (especially conferences) to the hotel by touting all the many features and services. For the price, where else can you stay and have a bar/restaurant onsite? The rooms are being renovated and the property is very pretty. BUT, don't expect too much for the price. The rooms (even renovated) are on par […] with a La Quinta type chain. Examples: There are brand new 37" TVs in the rooms, but they only get about a dozen channels, all standard definition and analog. The bar looks very nice, but the food is overpriced and very generic. I went in for a couple of beers and a "buffet" on Sunday. The buffet consisted of chicken or beef kabobs. The meet was less than desirable. The only other thing I tried was some chips and salsa (to be fair, not on the menu). The chips were lower end nacho chips and the salsa was Pace. The surprise of the nice, though, was finding out that my pint of beer was $6. I had Coors Lite! The complimentary hot breakfast is essentially the typical continental breakfast with a waffle maker and a toaster (that kept tripping the breaker). They do offer scrambled eggs (very runny) and sausage links (undercooked) as well, but your stomach would thank you to stick with the bagels or cereal. The list could go on, but I don't want to paint an unreasonable picture. Summary: The basic ammeneties that you would expect of a hotel in this price range are there. The property is cared for and somewhat secluded, with the city still reasonably accessible. If you keep your expectations on par with the price, you won't be disappointed. We were looking for a good nightly rate at a decent place near DC and this was it. It did fit the bill in those two respects. But there was something almost weird about the hotel. It looks as if it's a a remodel of a much older hunting lodge but (complete with a TV-filled "Decoy Lounge") but it was built in the early 80s - according to the hotel staff. […] There were well-dressed people with security ear devices roaming about at any given time. This made us feel....safe? And the complimentary breakfast buffet? Don't bother showing up if you're wearing any combination of: shorts, t-shirts, open-toed shoes and (somewhat understandably) baseball hats. I'm not sure how many people at a place of this caliber dress to the nines for all-you-can-eat scrambled eggs & fried bacon but I can see how it saves the Inn some money. Standing hungrily at the entrance in my nappy Orioles hat I felt somewhat gypped after reading the dress code. Otherwise our stay was fine. The rooms were, well, roomy with updated flat screen TVs. Nice sized bathrooms but the smoke detector must've been set to 'steam' as it went off after a long, hot shower. But again, it was fine for the money. The hotel is across the street from Southern MD Hospital. You get one complimentary breakfast ticket. It's buffet style and pretty good.

Oversight - phone in our room didn't work which I mentioned @ the desk several times, always adding that I only tried to use it once when I needed to call the front desk to ask about the wi-fi passoword after arriving the 1st evening, otherwise I didn't need it which made it a minor concern for me. We really liked the staff, ALL, including front desk, […] dining, cleaning & shuttle. Our German accented front desk friend was especially pleasant as was Mr. Lafayette the shuttle driver, but again, ALL of the Colony folks were very friendly and helpful.
