Motel is old and run-down. The rooms are poorly lighted -- seemed dark. No fan in the bathroom. Only one plug-in for hair tools etc. (Like only one plug in the outlet -- not two like a normal outlet.) Pool and hot tub were ok, but sauna did not work as advertised. Elevators take a LONG time to go up and down -- you stand and wait for 3-4 min for elevators. […] Worst part was the continental breakfast. You have to eat at their restaurant -- but they would only seat a small number of people at a time. We stood in line to be seated for 30 minutes -- not exaggerating. Then you have only two choices for food -- egg, bacon and biscuit, or a piece of fruit and oatmeal. The juice that comes with the meal is in a VERY small glass and if you want a refill it costs a dollar. You also have to pay a tip. From the time we left our room for breakfast to the time we returned to our room (and we ate quickly once we got our food) it was a full hour. Ridiculous! Will never stay their again! Lisätietoja

Terrible, terrible, terrible internet connectivity. We were there two nights, and the entire hotel internet had to be reset four times while we were there. The hotel room carpet had three very bad ripples which both my husband and I stumbled over a number of times although happily didn't fall. The hotel room door chain lock was unusable because the […] screws that held the half of the lock on the door frame had been removed. Happily there was also a deadbolt on the door so safety was okay. The furniture in the hotel room was extremely worn with holes in two of the chairs. I like staying at the Shilo in SLC because it is close to a lot of things downtown. Older hotel but kept up nice. Customer service was only ok. Very friendly checking in but did not ask how my stay was when I checked out. However this is probably a Salt Lake city customer service problem, as it happens everywhere here. Location is about the only good thing I can say. The hotel is outdated and run down. We had towels hanging from the ceilings in the halls and the windows were so dirty we could barely see outside. Service was poor and they forgot to provide us with tickets to the breakfast which we had to ask them for. Pay a few bucks and stay elsewhere.

The hotel was conveniently located to restaurants and only a couple of blocks away from Temple Square. The hotel had some minor maintenance issues they need to address. The floor indicator lights in the elevators did not work so you had to wait until the doors opened to be sure what floor you had stopped on. The interior lighting in the parking garage did not work which made it very dark inside. Not only did it make it hard to see where you were going but dangerous for persons lurking in the garage area. Not the nicest hotel in downtown Salt Lake but it is a good value. Nice room although they still have like 30 inch box TV's. Bed is really comfortable and the room is good sized. Front desk were very friendly. Complimentary breakfast in the attached restaurant is a bonus plus they have an indoor pool and spa. Great centrally located hotel with free parking, breakfast and internet. This hotel has so much potential if it got a remodal. Furnishings were very worn, ripped or stained. This hotel is in a very convenient downtown location within walking distance to all the attractions. However, this is the only plus to the hotel. The rooms are very old and they smell very bad. The TV is ancient at least 20 years old possibly 30! I would stay here again only if they do a complete remodel which is way over due!

The room smelled kind of bad and didnt have a flat screen, which i would almost expect from a hotel like this since almost every Motel 6 has one now a days. The location is perfect though, right in the middle of everything.

I loved the 1990 TV. It took 3 mins to turn on.

We came to Salt Lake City for the sportsman expo which was across the street so the location was perfect. We found our stay to be over all very good. Did not like the fact that there is not a stair case from the first floor to the fourth floor where we stayed. Stairway stops on the second floor and elevators where very slow. Plus I hate elevators. All the amenities the higher priced hotels do not have. Free internet, free breakfast, pool, and workout facilities. We found it worth the money!! Will definitely stay there again!

Hotel is very good in most of the things except breakfast and interner services

Hot water only in early morning hours, though spotty. None after noon. Employees were nice and helpful, especially the ones serving breakfast. They were overloaded, but still efficient and friendly. Everything a bit run down and ragged, but comfortable.

It is an old hotel. The area if you stay on temple and go up to Main street it is ok, but as you walk over to the basketball arena it starts getting iffy. You see pan handlers. Outside in the parking lot area there were iffy people that were not pleasant to walk by and stared you down. I had to ask them if there was an issue to which they just walked […] away mumbling. Our group enjoyed our stay, and will return to this hotel in the future. The hotel staff was very helpful, and the restaurant staff was outstanding. Is close to a nice mall and interesting area. However the hotel facilities look nicer on the Internet pictures than what the really are. The workout equipment was not in good working condition. Way over priced. Times are tough but raising the price to make it better doesnt work when you have so little to offer. Ok to stay at if others are full. Only one employee on duty during my stay. However the location across the street from the salt palace is nice.

The hotel was overall pretty good however, they put us in a handicap room and I was not a fan of that. Its an old hotel and my guess is that it's been a champ back in the days. But there is no excuse what so ever to not maintain facilities like the sauna for an example when you write that it is something that the hotel provides. Continously hot water for more than 3 minutes is also something that I expect from a hotel that uses the phrase "affordable […] excellence". The last thing I have to complain about is the breakfast solution they have. I expect a buffet on a hotel. This was more like a diner where you have to order and wait. And this F........ tips/gratuity! I'm a tourist but still!! When I've already paid for my breakfast as a part of my stay at this hotel, I HATE that I'm expected to leave this gratuity! BAD! First of all, I really want to mention that the staff at The Shiloh Inn were very friendly and courteous. That was a "Big Plus". The reason I stayed at The Shiloh is because I was attending a Training Event at The Salt Palace, which was just across the street ... so the location was absolutely perfect. The second reason I stayed at The Shiloh was because […] I was attending and rooming with a friend/colleague, who was on a very tight budget. The hotel is old and very dated -- this, however, is not a problem in itself ... the furniture is "worn out" and the room was "minimally" clean. It desperately needs to be cleaned up. A few of the things that I found to be unacceptable were: 1. The lighting in the room is extremely limited -- we turned ALL the lights on in our room, and it was still very dark (ie. I had to move my suitcase over to the nightside table-lamp to be able "to see" what I needed to find -- this became very frustrating. 2. The furniture is very old -- which is ok; but in very poor repair -- which is not ok.. Again, what I found offensive is that the stuffing on the chairs was coming out of the upholstery; the upholstery is "worn out" with gaping holes in it -- which certainly doesn't give a sense of cleanliness. 3. The "message light" on our telephone continually blinked, which indicates there is a message. When I attempted to retrieve the messages, I was unable to do so from the room phone. I called down to the front desk, and when I explained the problem, the response was "Yeah, the phone system's really old," -- she was kind enough to check if we had messages from her end, and we did not, but the phone kept blinking. 4. The room needed to have a "good clean" done -- the desk was sticky on top, the carpets needed a good vacuum around the edges of the walls ... it just generally "felt dirty." (When I talked to my husband at home, and he asked me how the hotel was, my answer was , "It's dark, dingy and dirty." I hope my comments are taken as constructive cr Lisätietoja

Not enough hotel staff to accommodate large amounts of guests. When I called the hotel twice on 2 separate occasions, I had to let the phone ring at least 20-25 times before someone would pick up. the room was very dimly lit.

Great location, great service, very nice rooms. Clean and well serviced, room was always clean when I returned each day.... and no early morning tap tap tap to get started before dawn. Great amenities.

Least expensive hotel in the neighborhood, but don't expect much. Elevators would go out of service. Banging of ice machines all night long. Internet didn't work, most equipment in exercise room old and broken, everything was run down. Staff tried to help but it was clear they were overworked. Granted I was there for new years so I understand busy but, out of 3 elevators there was only 1 working. We had to go 2 floors down to find a working ice machine. The Hotel overall was worth recommending. However, the parking there SUCKED! We were offered the option to park across the street at the Hilton for $13/night, with no guarantee that we could actually park there.

The parking was terrible for the hotel. The elevators were so slow. Other than that the hotel was really nice and a great price.

No internet, despite advertised. Like pulling teeth to get staff response to items missing from room. Elevator had issues. Staff at desk seemed almost bothered by requests.

The night service desk person was not very friendly. I ask him question about the hot tub and he could not find the answer.

It was good to be here. The only things i did not like it was the hallway smelled a little .

I live in Salt Lake City and took my family for a "downtown" vacation. I have never stayed at the Shilo but we all had a great time. The hotel and staff were just great. The free breakfast was very good. Very good free parking. The 24/7 pool, hot tub and sauna was the funnest part. The kids wanted to stay longer.

My biggest disappointment to the stay at the Shilo Inn in SLC was the fact that the fitness equipment was a joke. The weight machines couldn't be adjusted, the treadmill didn't turn on & the eliptical wasn't in great shape either. Also the sauna never did heat up much. The room was dated and poorly maintained. 1 bed was broken, the chairs need to be recovered. The tv's are old, dated and tiny. Wi-fi is non existent. Staff is completely uncaring and unwilling to fix any problems, and will bad mouth you in front of others for making simple requests like a room that is functional. Breakfast is awful, only a few choices, […] served by rude people, who couldn't care less if you are there or not. I would not every recommend this hotel. The only saving grace is it is close to downtown, and I needed to be close the the hospital where my husband was. I was changed to 3 different rooms, to find one that was barely acceptable, and had my husband not just gotten out of surgery, we would have switched hotels. I asked not to be disturbed, and put the sign on the door as well as told the desk not to call, well, someone came into the room while my husband was sleeping and then called. No apology, no trying to make it better, no anything, except a sucks to be you attitude. I was told a manager would contact me, nope, didn't happen. I brought my husband into the hotel, and while I was parking the car, the desk staff were talking loudly, in front of him and my children about what a pain I was and said things that I wouldn't repeat. Average hotel with an overpriced nightly rate. One bonus is 24 hour gym and pool.

This hotel room was so dirty, I felt the need to put a towel down in the shower. One of the safety locks was broken, as was the television. Sure glad I only had to stay one night.
