Atrium Hotel at Orange County Airport - Irvine

It ended up being a pleasant stay but I was initially placed in a room I did not reserve. After calling the front desk i was told it was all they had but after the front desk clerk conseded to her manager that she was saving my room for someone else(all while I am listening) he insisted i be placed in the other room. Some rooms are renovated and some are not. Parking is not available near by so they know you have to pay $12 a night. Room was okay, clean enough but smelled of smoke. They don't really have a fitness room. There are two stationary bikes and one broken elliptical shoved into a 10by 10 room. I would say it was too much for the price u pay with the parking […] . It is an older hotel and just ok. It was occupied by a lot of kids and loud. 4 doors down at 4:30 am there was a loud disturbance and the police had to be called. Won't be staying there agin.

Friendly service. Loved poolside bar and cabanas.

The beds and pillows are horrible. The service is fair although waited for a shuttle for over an hour the first night. The plugs fall out of the outlets the fuse boxes are open in the hallways, would be a good hotel if spent less making pool area pretty and bought some decent beds. Not recommended until they update

The Atrium is one of my favorites. We had our daughter's wedding poolside - everyone is fantastic. We've been back many times. I hope to spend more time poolside instead of racing off. Anyway, it is a great hotel. My only suggestion is please work on the computers are registration. It seems like everytime I check in, the computers are either down or […] incredibly slow. The hotel is undergoing some renovations as we were there. They did not disturb us in any way but it is good to know that the rooms are being updated. Our room was good not great - but we were not in one of the renovated rooms. It is RIGHT across the street from the airport and you can actually walk to the airport if you want

This is a good hotel if you just want a place to lay your head while waiting for your early flight the next morning. Breakfast is not included, parking is not validated for guests, the rooms are mediocre (I've stayed at Country Inn and Suites much better than this) and the staff seems to have an unwarranted pretentious attitude about the hotel, probably […] because they are in Orange County. Again, it is an inexpensive place to stay if you need to catch an early flight and it's right across the street from the airport (it took about 15 minutes walking from my room door to the terminal gate, and that included waiting at the cross walks), but if you don't need to stay near the airport, look somewhere else. We were looking forward to a overnight stay at the Atrium Hotel!! It was a first time get away since we've had our child 15 months ago. We arrived to a gal at the reception desk who looked very unhappy to be there. She didn't even say hello, she just looked at me until I said "Hi I'm checking in." Once we got to our room it was pitch black and we noticed […] the rooms were joined together. After settling in we headed out for dinner, when we went to shut the door the hotel door wouldn't lock and the hinge came unscrewed. NOT very secure! We proceeded to let the receptionist know, she put us in a room next door. When we went to our new room, we noticed the patio furniture had bird dropings everywhere, the room was a joined room again althoguth I requested a non-joined room. At any rate we decided to stay as it was now 9:00pm. Upon our departure for diner the dsecond round, the elevator was suddenly held on one of the floors, loud camotion coming from the elevator shaft, so srtling that my husband and I started to look for stairs to get down. Pacing up and down the hallway, the only stairs in the area were the Emergency Exit "ALARM" stairs. You would think there would be an alternate stairway for people who "opt" out of taking an elevator. We couldn't help but wonder if we were in the Twilight Zone as this Hotel seiously seemed like Hollowood Tower of Terror. The last amazing point is that when we checked in we were not provided with Breakfast vouchers that should have been included with our stay, we had to pay $12.00 for parking that was RIDICULOUSLY far, when we called down at the front desk to ask about Breakfast hours, we were put on hold for over 15 minutes. When we finally went downstairs to ask in person, the receptionist was typing on her computer no other guest around. I went straight to the window, to again not even be greated, a few minutes went by when she said give me another minute please" didn't even look up at me. Photos look really upscale but it is a mid range quality hotel/motor lodge. It shows some aging around the edges but it is pleasant and clean. No jacuzzi that I could find and the gym is an emptied out room with some machines in it. Basic work out needs could be met. the hotel is in the process of updating, paint smell. we were first put in a room that has not been updated, poor grade mattress, 19" TV, heat did not work and bathtub did not drain, after being moved into a renovated room, new mattress, flat screed, much nicer. Be sure to ask!!! same price

Uncomfortable, 20 yo mattress, scary wool blanket, old school TV, and not enough insulation from the airport noise. Other than that, it was great!

This hotel is very poorly maintained. The fan for the heater/air conditioning made a horrible noise and could not be used. The carpet needed a thorough cleaning. The plumbing needs complete replacement. It was not a good value for the price.

Loved this hotel, very peaceful and easy access to John Wayne airport

This hotel is one i book frequently for my business travelers. There is an Enterprise car rental on site that is alot cheaper than renting inside the OC airport since you dont' pay the aiport taxes. The price and the hotel staff are both great and the rooms have balconies which is a nice added touch. Highly recommend!

Let's face it.......this hotel is approximatley 40 years old - it was one of the first hotels built surrounding the Orange County - John Wayne Airport when the terminal was a double wide trailer. The hotel was originally the Airporter Hotel - which housed O.C.'s hottest bar where everyone was either a cop, a con-man, or a hooker. The bar is gone, so […] are the women, and so is the charm of a once great hotel. The hotel is tired, worn, and stale and in need of a total refurbishing. My guess is that this hotel is ripe for sale and will be torn down so a new owner can have a "jewel" as opposed to a relic. Tired, old, worn, and stale - that describes the Atrium. Lisätietoja

Was totally sucked in by the gorgeous pool/ lounge area. This is the only nice part of the hotel. I switched rooms twice and actually ended up with a room worse than my first. :(

I would recommend this hotel for those doing business in the area. It is a great value with friendly staff and all of the amenities that make for a good stay.

If I had reserved a room with the wrong beds, a moldy/mildewy smell, moist carpet outside the bathroom, and rude treatment of my wife upon check-in I would have been 100% satisfied. Look for other options if you have the chance.

The communal areas of the hotel are pretty nice. The lobby, pool area, and bar lounge are all pretty up to date. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms, however, are a different story. I walked into my room to find it 30 years out of date, with two full sized beds, a 13" tube TV with a remote that didn't work, ugly salmon colored decor and the […] tiniest showered ever. The bed smelled like someone just been smoking there, and the running water in the bathroom smelled discussting. I servived, but never go back to this hotel anymore.

nice lobby and very pretty pool area but the rooms are a bit tired . TV was vintage with very small screene . Shower from other room sounded like it was ours . Doors closing in hall was very loud . The place above 1st floor needs serious update

Rooms show many signs of wear and are dated. Its fine for an overnight stay but not more than that. The pools are nice enough if you enjoy tanning. Extra parking fee for your car and breakfast is not included.

Staff friendly, pool and lobby fantastic.....negative is that the rooms are out dated. they need to be updated with new beds, new flat screen tv's, etc. new everything. I don't mind staying but had people in from out of state for a training. they all commented on how much that they liked the pool and lobby but the rooms were not nice. really should […] start to redo even if it is only a few rooms or 1 floor at a time. not sure I would house another group of people here because of the rooms. The front of the hotel as well as the lobby are very nice. The rooms however need a complete makeover. The carpet is old, worn and dirty and the decor is very out of date including the bedding. The heater didn't work in our room and we were transferred to the room next door. No apology...just a move. Restaurant has great food.

My room: Fairly large holes in the blanket as well as a burn mark.... Room needs a paint job. Television is a 19 inch old school CRT, no flat screen or HD. Bathroom has half a bathtub but at least the water pressure is good. The food from the waterfalls restaurant is good and that's a definite plus. Not that great to work out of your room tho- next time I'll stay somewhere else for the same $. I work in Irvine so I expected the Atrium to be up to Irvine's standards. Absolutely not! I am so disappointed. When you walk into the lobby you are greeted with a nice ambiance. This hotel was terribly outdated. The shower was backed up so I had to take a shower with my feet in dirty water. I took my parking pass to be validated twenty minutes after I checked in, and the front office worker had no idea who I was. This was same guy that had checked me in twenty minutes earlier and no one else had checked in after me!!! The rooms […] were dirty, and looked like a Motel 6 from the 70s. The rooms are old, outdated, but clean. The tubs are from the 50’s and not in the best shape. The really good part of the hotel is the staff for one, food at the restaurant for another, but the nice surprise was the pool area. The weather was cool and breezy, which made it nice, but the general pool area was Very Cool. Tents with couches and large pillows […] made it a great place to congregate in the evening, order drinks and food from the outdoor bar (complete with large screen TVs). An LED light show in the trees made it feel like a place we once went to in Europe. It was a fun and relaxing experience. The hotel is located directly across the street from the Airport, but we never heard a sound. If the weather is bad and you had to count on the inside rooms to stay, its not that good. In all it’s a good value for the money. If you’re looking for a place to lay your head or hang out with friends at the end of the day I recommend this place. Hotel is convenient for OC travel. Hotel is old and somewhat worn. Really needs to be updated. They removed the bar from inside and if you really want a drink you need to walk next door to the Hilton. Breakfast was OK. TV's are very small and old technology.
