Why is it every Hotel room has 1 electrical outlet on the wall at the middle of the bed? I have sleep apnia and have to travel with my cpap machine. When I arrive in my room, I have to move a kingsize bed, unplug a lamp or clock radio, plug my machine into the wall, hopefully it will reach the same side of the bed that I prefer, push the bed back into […] position. Then I can sit back and enjoy a beverage. Oh yeah, speaking of beverage. Why do you get a 4 cup in room coffee maker and only get 1 package with 2 powder creamers, 2 pouches of sugar?????? Had a great stay. Hotel is modern, clean, easy to get to, and in a great location near Byward Market and Parliament Buildings.

generally it was ok, except the room had a smell that did not leave even after I opened the window. Front desk person did not bother to let me know there were 2 keys needed one was for the elevator even after I told him this was the first time at Novatel and Ottawa .

It was clean and quiet, the staff was very helpful.

Excellent stay. The staff was very accommodating, the location was convenient and our room was A+.

WE enjoyed our stay for what it was. It was a clean place to sleep while in town for a few days. We had a clean room and bathroom our towels were changed and our beds made. We were asked if we had a heineken from the mini bar but we did not and the girl said ok. BUT I overheard them ask another customer the same thing. Nice, modern hotel, exellent location. I would defenately recommend this hotel.

Very well located near the Parliament, byward market, rideau centre and all downtown attractions. Parking is 14,50 per day. The only negative is the elevator to go down to the parking garage was broken for our 3 day stay so we had to take the stairs. Service was very nice, the room was beautiful and comfortable, overall I would go back again.

This hotel is fine and served our purpose of a short stay while visiting our son who attends university in Ottawa. The only problem we experienced was the elevator service. When we arrived the elevator from the underground parking to the hotel lobby was not operational. The next day the main hotel elevators were not working. We had to carry our luggage […] down the stairs from the fifth floor when we checked out as well. I realize that this happens sometimes but there was no attempt to compensate us for the inconvenience, even in a small way - such as a reduction in the parking fee. We found that the staff were friendly and helpful. We were happy with the food in the restaurant and thought that the prices were reasonable. The pool was fine. The room was extremely hot. My dog found an almond beside the bed. the mission was around the corner and some of the people walking around the area looked kind of sketchy. I took my dog for […] a walk at 3 AM because it was so hot. There were people standing on the street injecting drugs two blocks away. We decided to return. Everyone was good about the dog and she was well behaved. I thought that I had asked for a roll away cot when I made the reservation, but there was no room for it anyway. The staff were terrific....and lobby was very modern looking. The rooms had a fresh updated decor.

Covenient location, just away from the Downtown Ottawa complications of driving/finding, very close to the Byward Market. Rooms were fully modern/clean. Parking area is convenient but could use a cleanup.

Even though it got cold and windy in Ottawa, we were walking distance to some nightlife. I have stayed at Novotel before and the brand is consistent quality and comfort. I was surprised the bar in the hotel closed at midnight on a Saturday since some friends of ours wanted somewhere to lounge after supper.

Novotel Ottawa couldn't have been a more perfect location. We walked to most of the museums, includng the walk over to Gatineau. Room was clean, bed could have been more comfortable. The maid service I found came around quite early. The hotel wifi is lousy, and they tried to charge me for a $4 bottle of water from our room.

slighly confusing parking and not included in price, but once you find it there is a place to put your vehicle. once parked you can visit many galleries and sites on foot. Location is excellent. My room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Ate at the restaurant one evening with my 5 year old. They did have a childrens menu available, but was ill concieved […] and poorly executed. Came for the NHL Allstar weekend and the hotel was right in the middle of most events as well as close to shopping, parliament & Byward market. You need to like modern to like this hotel, I found it nice. Just some small things like there isn't a lot of room to walk thru your room if you're staying with more than 1 person. I actually found the pricing […] for breakfast was cheaper than expected based on other reviews so that was a nice surprise. This was honestly the worst hotel stay we ever had. Parking was not included as indicated, they charged extra $15.00 a day. Breakfast buffet was not included. The room was tiny and required backing up or climbing on the bed to walk pass each other in the room. There was no dresser and the closet has hidden behind the entrance door. Then the bathroom […] wasn't big enough to change your mind in. After specifically requesting a quiet room (away from the elevators), we were placed directly beside the elevator lobby. To add insult to injury, the hotel Novotel fire alarms were sounded at 3:30am and again at 4:00am with intercome messages directly above our bed. The chances of sleeping a peaceful night were ZERO! After inquiring about the disruption to the Hotel Manager the following day, we were met with shrugged shoulders and "what do you want me to do about it?" attitude. The bed was extremely comfortable but the room was small. Everyone at the front desk was unhelpful except for one wonderful lady (Rana). There was no water pressure and no fridge in the room. When we requested one there were none available. Overall I would not recommend the hotel to anyone other than for the comfortable bed and great location.

The room was rather small for two beds

I needed a place to stay near the B yward market in Ottawa for a night with my boyfriend, and chose the Novotel over the Chateau Laurier (because it was marginally cheaper) and regretted it so much. Here's why: 1) Upon arrival, parked in parking garage only to learn that elevator was out of service indefinitely. Had to carry two huge suitcases up the […] stairs. 2) Room very tiny and bedsheets had holes in them. 3) There is no actual "door" to the bathroom, which is inconveniently located 30cm away from the bed. There are only closet doors (not much privacy to do one's business!) 4) Tried ordering a movie that night, it didn't work. Called front desk for assistance and was told they'd fix it and call us back...it was not fixed and nobody called back. 5) My boyfriend and I were treated like criminals by the staff when we needed to use the lobby bathroom on our way out to dinner (as opposed to going back up to our room). The staff came to check that we were not up to any mischief and waited for us to finish outside the bathrooms. 6) Staff at the front desk used a rude, belittling tone with me when I could not find the way to the parking garage from the elevator due to lack of clear signage. Not only will I never stay at this hotel again, I have gone out of my way to warn people about it, and to recommend that they splurge for the Chateau Laurier instead. A tiny room and holes in the sheets are one thing that friendly, helpful service from the staff might have made up for. Lisätietoja

This hotel was fine, but we were most embarrassed to learn when we were there of the disgraceful labour practices that had taken place there. Apparently Novotel has engaged in an anti-union campaign at this hotel, despite the rights and wishes of some of its employees. We didn't know about this when we booked the hotel, and we certainly won't go back […] if this kind of thing continues. I'd rather stay at a hotel that respects the rights of its employees. Located in the downtown area which is quite convenient for many, sadly however, it doesn't enjoy any view! That's been said, it's very close to the 416 highway which was convenient. It was relatively quite, given it was past the season of festivals anyway. Overall good hotel, it was just was a bit confusing arriving late at night to a packed parking garage and no signs. You also have to get to the lobby to get a key to access the elevator. Other than that, nice, clean and great location!

My bf and i decided to go to Ottawa for NYE we stayed at Novotel for 2 nites, it was great,rooms were clean, staff was friendly and helpful, hotel was modern and very nice, the location was just simply amazing, right downtown, across the mall, near the canal to skate walking distance to everything, i was dissapointed the canal was not open for skating, […] not cold enough sadly but i hope to go back again soon and be able to skate on the canal, the only thing i have to complain about this hotel is the prices on water, beers and drinks they offer in the mini fridge in your room, water bottle is $4.00 plus tax beers $7.50 chocolates etc $3.75 each, BRING YOUR OWN DRINKS, munchies very expensive!!!!! if you are picky with hotel rooms and worry about cleaniness and location you will not be dissapointed trust me! We were very pleased overall with Novotel. The King size bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. Also happy we didn't need a concierge for parking and access to our car was easy.
