I was impressed by the room (with two large flat screen TV's) and the quality of service. Everybody was really friendly. However, three out of four lamps in the room did not work, also the air condition was inoperative. A call to the bell desk brought a technician to my room in a minute or so (very fast) and these things were fixed. The complimentary breakfast was modest, just tee/coffee, some muffins etc. The location could not be better. Both Greektown and the GM Renaissance Center are just around the block.

"Excellent value for money"
The suite was one of the best rooms we've been to. Very big, with a kitchen, sofa, desk, good bed with prober linen, nice bathroom and lots of space. The area was next to a highway but still was very quiet and calm. Pretty little place. "Comfortable hotel"
The suite was good and clean. The only thing that suprised me was the breakfast. On two days during breakfast the staff came up to me offered getting me coffee. That's customer service.
"Bad experience"
My wife and I stay at Gatehouse Suites a couple times per year if the price is right, but never again. The bed and pillows were terrible. I took a shower and ran out of hot water. But the worst was when my wife tried to take a bath about a half hour later. The water still wasn't hot and she notice it was brown.
It was great. It was like having your own apartment on the road.

I was really bummed because I always stay at the Embassy suites because of there continental breakfast . this time the Hubby wanted me to cook so I had to find a place with a klitchen. we have a Gatehouse in Grand rapids so I have herd of them and just booked it in Troy MI , but when we got there and checked in I was very satisfied besides the internet […] not working that well everything was just perfect. the rooms were very clean, they were fully supplied , they thought of everything including popcorn for a movie. i was very satisfied and the gatehouse in GR needs to take notes. room service was on time daily and very respectable. what took the cake for me was the compliementatry breakfast and dinner.. they even had a calender on the fridge with all events you can attend why you are there. Great Great Hotel Definetly will be satying there again everytime we visit detroit .. the Gatehouse suites in Troy will be are destination. .all they need now is a Quran in the drawers to go along with there other reading materials..lol...just to accomidate all religions...but besides that Great Place To Stay Highly Recommended!!!! There was absolutely NO hot water AGAIN, and when we did it only lasted 5 min. Had to get out me the shower 3 times cuz it was so cold. Had to wait 10 minutes each time to wait for it to heat up again. Very disappointed with only that situation.

The suite was a great deal. Kitchenette was very nice. Complimentary breakfast and lasagna dinner were included.

I absolutely love the layout of this hotel. There are several mini buildings with 8 suites to a building. It has great square footage and and full eat in kitchen with full size appliances. The downside is that it is in serious need of updating from the carpet to the walls to the furniture to the tv. I think at one time it was a premium place to stay. […] It just needs some TLC. "Simple, but great"
Our room was more or less like an efficiency apartment. Clean, convenient. Staff was very accommodating. Surprise value of breakfast and dinner offering (we did not partake, but a nice touch).

This hotel used to be great but my this stay changed my view - room wasn't clean properly which I am sure most of the important concerns anyone can have. Staff service is always good though.

Great price, good location and although we only stayed one night, it's always nice to have a suite/kitchen area. It was Christmas Eve, so we didn't spend much time there, but I liked that they had late-afternoon snack/activities set up on most weeknights. We had a nice stay at The Gatehouse Suites Troy. We were visiting during the New Years holiday and of course there was substantial noise New Years eve night but overall very quiet. The biggest complaint was the bed was VERY hard, second to stone. Many nice restaurants in the area along with a couple of micro-breweries. Overall not too bad.

My husband and I stayed there for the weekend, it was very nice and quiet, the bed was comfortable and the buffet breakfast was hot and fresh. The area was nice and around several restaurants and had a full kitchen, the bathroom is small, very small you can barely close the door and stand in the bathroom at the same time, and the T.V is old, the reception […] wasn't very good and wasn't a flat screen. This was a very nice hotel, especially for the discounted price which I received on the Hotels.com website. The suite was large and comfortable. Both bath & shower were nice. The breakfasts were quite good. Unfortunately, I was not able to take advantage of the free evening meals provided Monday through Wednesday, so can't comment on those. I had a good stay at the Gatehouse Suites. It is conveniently located, very close to the Big Beaver road. The rooms are clean and comfortable enough, though they could do with some updates. The hotel staff is very helpful and are gracious about accommodating your needs and requests!

The Gatehouse Suites is a great place, especially when you consider the low price we got on hotels.com. It's like an apartment complex with individual buildings of about 5-6 units each. The bed linens were nice and the bed was comfortable. Everything was clean, except the carpet in a few places, but I find that in a lot of places. Stayed one night because my husband was leaving for the Army and MEPS is in Troy. Couldn't stay at his hotel with him and there was no way I was going to pay 130 dollars at the hotel he was staying at just to be down the hall. My room was like a studio apartment, had an upstairs room, was nice and was clean. Free wireless internet in the room. The […] towels smelled like they had been in the room a while, it did not seem like a busy hotel at all. Didn't eat breakfast there so I can't judge. Is good if you are staying for an extended period, has a kitchen with mircowave, stove, dishwasher and full sized fridge. Was close to Somerset and Oakland Mall.
