It was really enjoyable and the staff were really nice. Check in was very busy when we got there but staff were very helpful and considerate. Close to everything we needed and it was really great when they said "don't worry if you need to stay a bit later than 12 for check out, it will be fine" so no stress. It was great to be able to just walk across the streeet to the mayo clinic, but, the hotel was horrible. I would never stay there again. The room was dark, and hot, the air/fan didn't work in the room, and the bathroom was extremely small. The closet was larger than the bathroom. I might has well have slept on the floor than in the bed, it probably […] would have been more comfortable. And they started doing some sort of construction at 745am in the room next to ours. I like the hotel --but the room was small and the parking was a pain.

The hotel is the most convenient to the Mayo Clinic which was the main reason for chosing it. The rooms are adequate except for the bathrooms which are small. Our room was clean and the staff were friendly and accomodating. One thing guests should be aware of is the $12/day parking fee when booking through Hotels.com. The pool area was different up on the top floor. It had a deep end which you don't find much these days. Parking ramp was kind of a hassle and the rooms feel like this hotel is an old converted hospital. I give this hotel a C- rating.

The Kahler is a Grand OLD hotel. The rooms are very small (10'x 10") and the bathrooms were small and old fashioned. There was no place to lay out toilet articles in the bathroom. The woodwork needed to be refinished. The room was over heating with no way to adjust it or turn on the air conditioner without calling maintenance. Nothing special about the place, rather old but clean and close to Mayo Clinic

We enjoyed our stay at the Kahler. The only problem was the bed was not very comfortable. When we got in the bed we both rolled to the middle of the bed. But otherwise everything was excellent and the staff in the Grill were very friendly.

Big disapointment . The room was not only dirty with old food stains on the carpet , broken lamp shade , walls with holes and screwes but also reception crew not prepared to handle such a situation. Not a good spot to stay for comfort looking Mayo patients.

The Kahler Grand is an old hotel located directly across from the Mayo clinic. The service is very good but many of the rooms are in need of updating. While clean the furnishings are dated and the bathroom is much too small for modern travelers. We have stayed there many times and it meets our needs. Twice we have had to have the maintenance staff to […] our room to repair the heating. Once the hotel had to move us to a different room. The Kahler is an old historic hotel in a great location. Our first room assigned smelled very old and moldy. We had to switch due to sensitivities, and our 2nd room was much better. The room was clean but as with all older hotels it was missing some amenities. I will say that the staff person we had when we checked in and then also needed to switch […] rooms was absolutely wonderful. So no complaints there at all. A little glitch in check-out but it was all worked out w/assistance & that person was great. The hotel has great character. They may want to consider beginning to update at least some of the rooms. We only stayed one night, and we spent most of that night at a concert. But, the staff was very helpful, the bed comfortable, the shower refreshing and Martini's downstairs was a nice place for a drink. For the price, a very good value.

I needed a room that was near Mayo and this one was right across the street. The price was amazing and the room was completely adequate and clean. I got what I expected. Enjoyed the Starbucks in the hotel, too.

The hotel seems run down for the amount of money you pay for a room. The location is wonderful, but it needs a lot of updating to be worth the price they charge.

If you are visiting mayo. This is the place to stay. The bellman are more prone to hang out inside than to be helpful with baggage or hail a cab. Food is not good but the is a place called chesters that I great close by. Dooleys pub has big tvs and great wings just down the street as well. Overall. Good experience

old, very luxurious for its time. some old bathroom fixtures. they all worked fine, just old. parking is a bit pricey, but the convenience of being right next to the Mayo facilities is so nice for those early morning appointments. will use this hotel again.

This hotel is conveniently located near Mayo Health System. It was clean, staff was helpful, but the room we stayed in was very outdated.

Check in and out were easy. The room was small and comfy. Great for a quick stay for one or two people. The bathroom needs some updating and general maintenance but was clean and had everything I needed for a one night stay.

This hotel is over 90 years old and has been updated in most areas. The room itself was quite comfortable. However, the plumbing in the bathroom seemed to be original, with the shower pressure and temperature constantly changing even though they installed new water pumps during our visit. Also the flatscreen TV was nice but did NOT have HD signal so […] scenes were wider than normal and not very clear. We've stayed at the Kahler Grand, Rochester 3 times in the last 2 months. Hotel is nice but last 2 times our room was mini-small; sink in bedroom, no closet, no hangers. Last reservation was 1/24 but they had us coming 1/27 but worked it out. Location is great and staff are very personable.

you get what you pay for and the convention I was at must have wanted to go cheap. The hotel is old and the rooms a joke, putting a shower and toliet in a closet and the sink in the very small room does not an quality hotel room make. Would never waste money staying here again

The hotel staff was great. My room was clean, however the bathroom was tiny. I believe that the hotel should have provided free shuttle to the airport. Going to and from the airport added $40.00 to my stay. Next time I will fly into Minneapolis, take the shuttle from MSP which will drop me off and pick my up any location in Rochester.

I went iin mid january. As any of you who have been out in Rochester know thats a very cold month. But my room was far too hot to be pleasant. I had the heating unit in my room off the entire time I was there and my room never fell below 75 degrees and frequently cracked 80; even though it was well below 0 outside several mornings. The food was fine, […] limited selection, but well located if you want to go somewhere else. Access to the underground and skyway is fantastic. My keycard worked fine on my room door, but it did not work well at the gym. I only managed to get in one of the 4 times I tried despite having the desk try to rekey my card twice. The rooms are a little dated but comfortable. Bed was very firm but I woke up feeling great. A few blocks from some very good restraunts. (chesters, michaels, Victoria's Italian, 300 1st). Right by shopping. Literally across the street from the Gonda bldg and attached parking. Subway below the hotel for shops and a way to get to Mayo and restraunts […] in the cold and rain. Hotel was nice, clean, etc. Older hotel, bathroom a little small and could have used some updating. Excellent location for Mayo Clinic access.

The Kahler is a great place to stay if you are visiting the Mayo or Methodist hospital. I am a regular there, 4 times a year minimum and they always do a great job.

I paid extra for the PURE room, thinking it would be an upgrade. The staff just rolled an air purifier in and turned it on. It was the same dingy room with outdated bathroom and lumpy mattresses. Convenient location to Mayo, but others are also convenient!

We recently stayed at the Kahler Grand following my wife's surgery. Staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make us comfortable. We will return again and again because of the service, the location and the nearness to shops, restaurants and entertainment.

Underground passages are very helpful. Service was fine. Room and shower were very small. Uncomfortable pillows.

It was really convenient to Mayo Clinic; literally across the street from the main entrance. Service was excellent and it's nice that there's a Starbucks downstairs and inside access to most of downtown through skyways and subways. However, if you are looking for a hotel with modern, spacious rooms, skip the Kahler Grand. Yes there are some large and […] beautiful rooms, but those aren't the ones that most people stay in. Those are very expensive suites. The "normal" rooms are outdated and cramped. The bathroom hasn't been renovated since the building was built and was a tight squeeze. Maybe I'm just spoiled with newer hotel rooms but I've honestly enjoyed a Holiday Inn Express more than this hotel. I probably won't stay here again the next time I come to Rochester. I just got back from being at the Mayo Clinic two weeks in a row. The first week I went with my sister and we got the two double bed standard room, My sis was disappointed that it was not updated, the mattresses were not real comfortable and our pillows were not up to par. I have to say I agreed, however, the staff promptly had feather toppers placed […] on each of the beds that made a huge improvement and brought us extra pillows. The room was clean and the closeness to the Mayo(literally steps away),shopping and eating was exceptional. My second stay I went alone (that is how safe I felt) I got a standard single double bed & I loved my little room! The mattress was fine and so were the pillows. Both rooms were quiet. The desk clerk remembered me and welcomed me back :D Starbucks in the hotel was a staple in the a.m. and I frequented the hotel restaurant. Walking distance thru subway & skyway to Victoria's Italian & Chesters who both have great food! Mostly due to the Kaler Grand I fell in love with Rochesters. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at the Kahler Grand Hotel. It has an old world flavor but modern conveniences. The desk personnel were personable and helpful. We will stay only there in our future visits to Rochester.

Great hotel in the middlemof downtown and Mayo Clinic buildings. It is connected to all downtown and medical buildings by subway walkways and skywalks. Many shops and eating venues for entertainment. Most convienant and comfortable hotel in town for the price!!!

I went there for an romantic evening and I consider it a success. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Not sure if I have a full king size bed (question if it was long enough), but I slept well. Since its an old hotel the smaller size of the room did not surprise me. Its well big enough. The only disappointment was how hard it was to find […] the swimming pool. Multiple elevator rides and then two floors of stairs (??). Never ever got to see it because it closed right before we got there. The hotel is great for guests to the Mayo Clinic. In the middle of all the action for sure. The parking lot had license plates for calls all accross the country (quite remarkable). Oh, parking is extra and expensive ($12 a night for me). Made our stay at mayo very comfortable and convenient.

Hotel is directly across from Mayo Clinic so is very convenent if you have appointments there (directly connected via underground passageway) and is less expensive than other hotels. I needed a place to stay for a job interview close to The Mayo Clinic. Skyways allowed me to make the two block trek without a coat. The room was small but I didn't need a lot of room. It had a desk with internet service that allowed me to prepare. The staff was all very helpful. The kind you would encounter at a four-star hotel. Overall our stay was nice. Food was okay, but expensive. It's an older hotel, they need to replace the beds with pillowtops, they're tooooo hard.
