La Quinta Inn & Suites Irvine Spectrum - Irvine

The hotel is built in a historic landmark. Therefore, they were not allowed to change some things(paint certain walls, etc.). If you're ok with that kind of stuff, then it wasn't a bad place to stay. It just didn't feel warm enough for me, with unpainted cement walls in the room.

Good location just off Interstate 5, but train runs every 30 min very near to hotel. Staff friendly, but not able to provide advertised services. Requested handicapp room and did not receive one after having one confirmed for our reservations. High tub with no handrails. Very good family restaurant across from parking lot. When the staff hands you a set of earplugs when you check in you know you're going to be in for a long night. Very loud trains roared by my room about every hour, all night. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper but even then I was woken up about 4 times. I'd stay somewhere else if you want to get a night's sleep.

This hotel would have been perfectly acceptable for the price excpet one major factor. The hotel is right on the side of railroad tracks. Why did hardley any reviews mention this? And the few that did stated that it was an "occasional" train, or the noise was minimal. Not true! The coaster train ran about every 30 minutes, with some lareg trains in […] between. And the hotel backs right up to the edge of the train tracks, so the noise is pretty significant. The trains start very early in the morning and go all the way until midnight. I was up there on a businesss trip and was only allotted so much per night to spend. I really wish I would have spent money out of my own pocket and went to a different hotel. Lisätietoja

This hotel was AWFUL. We chose it because it was close to the Sand Canyon Surgical Center where I was having eye surgery. It was almost under a triple-decker highway and right next to a railway line. The bathtub was so disgusting that I was unable to take a bath. Since I was not supposed to shower, I had to make a choice. I decided to shower and try […] to keep my face dry. We were very pleased with our hotel stay... Helpful staff, Plenty of parking, close to restaurants and gas stations. Easy freeway access. The continental breakfast was lovely. Thank you again!

I needed an affordable hotel room for one night close to a business meeting location. I booked it at the last minute. The rate was good and the location was easy to get to. I made good use of the free Internet access. It was a great choice.

The staff has great customer service skills. Kristina was very helpful and accommodating.

Definitely not luxurious, but clean and interesting looking. My room was spacious (upgrade). Not enough condiments, if you wanted more than one cup of coffee, but I'm sure the staff would have brought more had I asked. I'd definitely stay there again.

We were very worried when we booked this room because of all the negative reviews, but it was the only place that accepted large dogs (golden retriever). We were pleasantly surprised, the room was clean and comfortable, no noise, cleaning crew very polite, and great pet facilities. We would definitely stay there again with confidence.

The hotel would have been OK except that the room was not that clean and the beds were horrible! Beds were not comfortable at all.

The rear building is a convert grain factory which gives the hotel a unique look with historical facts and pictures posted in the lobby and hallways for you to catch your attention. Upon entering my room, the switch on the wall didn't seem to turn anything on. The walls of the room are solid concrete showing the shape of the old grain silo it used […] to be. The phone didn't work as well, but I didn't think I would need it. With that being said, the concrete walls seem to have a way of resonating sound cause one late night, a party that was apparently one floor down and across from my room was fairly loud and clear. So since the phone was dead, I used my cell phone to complain, and it took about an hour before the noise finally terminated. Other that, I really liked the place since it was different, and if I spent more time there, I would have crossed the parking lot to check out the historical Old Town Irvine. Lisätietoja

we only spent one night, the price, location, and accommodation were fine.

This motel was very clean but room was directly on the railroad track. Room shook during the night when trains went by and awakened by train horns. Definitely a big minus for this otherwise nice property.

We had 5 people so the hotel clerk moved us to a room that had a sofa bed to accommodate us... This was very nice . The rooms are concrete walls and a hexagon shape- the place use to be a grain mill of some kind... Quite different.., we were near the train tracks - but didn't mind the occasional train coming by.. We chose this hotel for its proximity to my fathers home, about a mile. Nice lobby, nice staff. Room was old but looked well kept. Too small for my family so we asked to move to a small suite. We were told that they could not help us any further because we booked with a third party(another family traveling with us were allowed to change rooms although […] they had also booked with a third party). The maintenance man did bring us a roll away bed. It took up most of the floor space in the room, we had to walk across the beds to avoid walking over each other. Although we are a family of five, we were only ever left one wash rag and towel per day and no soap or shampoo until our last day. We just found the maid every day, she was very courteous. Also praise for the maintenance man, he was very prompt in replacing our broken coffee maker with a new one, also stocking us up on coffee packets. We would have given a higher score for cleanliness because our room was okay, the low score is based on our traveling companion having found dead bugs in his sheets. While this was not in our room, it gives an overall negative impression to the hotel. Also the breakfast service was moderate, more variety would be appreciated. I went to see a concert at the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater. This hotel is perfect in that it is about 2 miles from the concert venue. The two complaints I have with this hotel. I reserved a standard king room. Hotels.com put me in a handicapped double and I wasn't able to switch to another room. I'm six foot four, so it made for an interesting nights […] sleep for myself and my wife. The second complaint I have. This hotel is located 15 feet from high speed train lines. I mean it. 15 FEET. The hotel offered free airport shuttle service and was located about 10 minutes away. I waited for 45 minutes before anyone came, even though I called 3 times and was told that the driver was on the way. I was there for a business appointment and had to call and delay the meeting. When I went into my room, it smelled of smoke even though it said on […] my reservation - non smoking room. They did not move me to another room even though I told them in the morning and when I returned in the evening, the hotel was full. Half the hotels are in an old historic silo building - kind of cool. BEWARE - hotel is adjacent to a rail road and the trains come by frequently (morning commuters). I was not bothered by this but others may be

Just stayed here for a night get-away... it was a comfortable evening and really don't have any complaints. Thought the train would be a problem but it really turned out to be a cool thing... we liked watching it go by out our window!

I called the front desk to confirm the jacuzzi was hot and the lady told me the jacuzzi was hot and when I got there, it was ice COLD!! I complained but it was too late she said to do anything about it. It's always nice to take a jacuzzi after a long drive from Santa Barbara. I stayed for two days 3rd floor. My room air conditioner was noisy, so I turn it off to sleep. And my room had window but it did not opened. But staff was very kind.

Nice basic hotel. Big airy breakfast room. Very nice staff. The commuter train goes by a lot but I didn't hear it much in the front building.

Right on railroad tracks Loud trains all night. Police were called to stop large party on my floor. Awake all night Hotel was Ok but bad situation

I read reviews and was a bit nervous, but everything worked out great. When I arrived first thing I was going to ask about was if my room was close to the train, well the lady at front desk let me know first and switched me right away. I stayed in what look's to be the older hotel the outside looked a bit shabby like a renovated train station but inside […] looked just fine,very clean and comfy. My room had a fridge and all the standard's. Food as expected same old continental breakfast.If you like denny's that is on location as well as a hamburger joint and mexican bar and grill which was not bad but very chevy's like if you don't mind that. I checked in fairly late, at about 10:30 pm after an hour long drive from LAX. I had read past reviews about the hotel and there were mixed reviews about the level of train noise so I asked for a quieter room. However, the rooms in the historic silo, which are more recently renovated, are also the noisiest. The front desk clerk gave me a room there […] but told me I could switch if the noise was too much. He was very accommodating. I got to the room (4th floor, corner) and no sooner had I walked around the room than a train came down the tracks which were literally 10' outside of my window. The train horn was obscenely loud and the entire room rattled when the train went by. I immediately called down to the front desk for a new room. The front desk clerk was very nice about it and switched me to the other building. Initially, I didn't want a room in this building because the furnishings looked quite a bit older in the pictures and I discovered it has motel-style rooms (which is not apparent in the pictures). Motel-style meaning that the outside doors were all exterior, facing the parking lot. When I went into the room, it had the worst stale cigarette smell. By this time, it was midnight and I couldn't deal with switching rooms again so I just didn't unpack anything. While the room didn't shake every time a train went by, I did wake up every hour to a train horn, despite wearing earplugs. I would say that I'm a medium to heavy sleeper too. I canceled my remaining two nights the next morning and switched to the Holiday Inn Irvine Spectrum which was much newer, cleaner, and most importantly, quieter. Lisätietoja

After reading about all of the moaning about the noise of the train, etc. I was a little nervous. We barely heard the train at all and found our 2 night stay surprisingly comfortable. Yes, it's an older hotel and the bathtub should be resurfaced, but the room was clean & tidy. Breakfast was standard fare, although the waffles were pretty tasteless. […] But the service was impeccable and I loved the fact that I didn't have to pay extra for my little dog. We will definitely stay here again, as it's nice and central for S. Orange County and has 2 restaurants on the property and a fast food joint across the street. Definitely worth the price. We booked three rooms for various family members. One was in the front building, and the other two were in the back building. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but we did not have hot water for two of the three nights we stayed in the hotel. The first day without hot water, I went to the front desk and was told I needed to let the water run longer […] for it to heat up-- both my husband and I took cold showers. One of the other rooms we booked also had no hot water, and were told that there was someone looking at it at that moment. Later that night, still no hot water. None the next morning either. My parents had to actually check out of their room and move to the other building to have access to hot water. They were told a third story-- this time that there would be someone to look at it on Monday. I understand things breaking, but I appreciate honesty and solutions-- I would have recommended this place if the management had been upfront and offered to move us the first time we complained about no hot water. This hotel was spotless and had a good breakfast service. But everytime a train went by the whole room shook and it felt like an earthquake!

Good service at checkin, pleasant and efficient. Room interior took a bit of getting used to, concrete walls. But room was clean, bedding clean and fresh. We stayed here when we were in the process of relocating to Irvine. They gave us the "bad" rooms i.e. facing the rail line on the top floor. You can hear the trains whiz by all day./night and to make matters worse because there is an intersection the trains blare their horns everytime. Although i slept thru it and was able to tune it out, it could be […] an issue for most ppl. Breakfast was good, they had cereal, eggs toast coffee etc .. Worth the money paid. We stayed in the La Quinta Inn for 4 days attending an international swim meet in August. It was cooking hot outside but our room was nice and cool. The staff are friendly and helpful. They let me use their computer to check-in my return flight right before we left for the airport. We were on the railroad side but hardly notice the noise. hotel employees were a bit rude. can't take your cup of coffee from rest to your room (hello it's a hotel) - had dirty towel and sheets.

Constant highway noise in room. Room OK - but carpets need some deep cleaning. Breakfast was really good. Pool was good - but right next to (as in less than 10 yards from) railway tracks - subject to constant rail or highway noise in this place. Though the staff tries, this is really not the place for a restful night.

Close to the train but when asleep it was not loud enough to wake me. The windows seem to be well insulated because I was facing the freeway and the noise was very distant.
