"Nasty Nightmare!"
Carpet was nasty, dingey and wet. The bedsheets were paper thin with holes. I literally slept in my clothes. Surprisingly the cleanest thing in the room was the bathroom. Rep said it was a new hotel. The only reason I stayed was because I prepaid...Never will do this again. A nightmare for real. This is no exaggeration.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times while visiting UDel. It is a clean and inexpensive place to stay. They need new pillows so I bring my own.

The Super8 is a tired motel with few amendities, however it is on Main Street in downtown Newark. It is close to all of the shops, restaurants and bars as well as the UD campus. "Super 8 not super by any means"
Cigarette but in toilet, used bandage in the bed, right next to a bar so 2am wake up and hotel people showed complete apathy to complaints. Only good thing was close to university but not worth it.

Picked this hotel for the price and location to Main Street. Hotel is DATED and poorly built. Doors don't close properly / aren't sealed. Bathroom door felt like it was going to break. "Close to Univ. of Delaware. No Frills. Low Cost."
This was my third time staying at the Newark Super 8. My daughter attends UD, which is just a few blocks away. When staying here, I feel like I'm practically on campus. This is strictly a low cost, no frills place to sleep. You get what you pay for. If you are a person, who prefers to have a pristine, catered to hotel stay, this is definitely not the […] place for you. Don't even think about looking for complimentary breakfast. While the room smelled slightly musky and could've been cleaner in the nooks and crannies, it was not close to filthy either. (I was satisfied after giving it a thorough wipe down with disinfectant wipes and spray.) I checked and saw no signs of bedbugs. As a personal rule, whenever I stay at lower-end hotels, I bring my own towel and washcloth. Not a bad idea here, as they seem to not use enough bleach to wash theirs. The refrigerator and microwave were new, clean, and worked well. (Though the socket was so loaded, in order to use the microwave, you have to temporarily unplug the refrigerator.) The thermostat on the blow heater worked well, and I was able to adjust the room temperature to be very comfortable. (Something that I've had problems with in far more expensive hotels.) Although it could have used newer, whiter and better grade sheets, I found the king-sized bed to be highly comfortable. The shower water was hot and had a adequate full spray. The tub looked clean and the toilet flushed well. Since the hotel is right on Main St, (the main hang-out strip for UD students), if you stay over the weekend, you must expect to hear outside party noises. There is a bar/late night restaurant right next door. Eventually I turned the TV a little louder, got used to it, and was able to tune the outside noises out. In spite of the partying, which didn't get out of hand while I was there, this end section of Main St. seems relatively safe. I didn't notice any scary characters hanging around. "Rude front desk unable to read reservations"
Our stay was for 2 nights. The morning after our first niht we were told to vacate the room. When we explained that the room was for 2 nights the flont desk was very rude and they insisted we were to leave that morning. It wasnt untill I called the hotel myself and TOLD them to look at the reservation confirmation, did they stop harrassing us to leave. Not much of a hotel, but it is right on main street and has reaosnable rates. have stayed many times and will do so again.

On Arrival they didn't provide me with a room with the ammendities arranged for so they had to change our room which we had already carried our bags to. It was still a smoking room which really smelled and aggrevated our sinus. The toilet did operated properly and the toilet paper was substandard. The towels and wash cloths were like sandpaper.
