Sijainti loistava, kun halusimme ensimmäisen yön matkalla ennen Manhattanille menoa, viettää yön NJ puolella Newarkin kentän ja Jersey Gardens outlet ostarin lähellä. Jersey Gardens muutaman sadan metrin päässä hotellilta. Shuttle kuljetus EWR kentältä toimii hyvin. Huoneet hyvän kokoiset. Hieman kulahtaneet, mutta Manhattanilla saman hintaiseen hotelliin verrattuna suorastaan loistava. Ja pääasia, emme nähneet tarkankaan tutkimisen yhteydessä luteita tai muita "kotiötököitä", joita NYC ja NJ hotelleissa saa varoa.

Huone oli joka päivä siivottu ja jopa yöpaita oli viikattu nätisti peitolle. Hotellin shuttle ei liikkunu kovinkaan monta kertaa, tai ei ollut saatavilla yleensä koskaan, mutta hotellin läheltä lähti aamusta mukavasti busseja "isoon omenaan" ja illalla pääsi samalle pysäkille osasi valita oikean bussireitin. Aamupala oli hyvä ja ruokaa oli riittävästi. Ei mitään valittamista sen kanssa. Asiakaspalvelu oli kiitettävää ja joustavaa, jopa myöhäinen sisäänkirjaus oli ok, vaikka myöhästyimme reilusti ilmoittamastamme saapumis ajasta.

Saapuessamme vastaanottoon, virkailija otti passimme ja etsi tiedot tietokoneelta. Olimme varanneet huoneen netistä ja maksannet myös. Tiedot löytyivät ja saimme huoneavaimet. Kaikki sujui mutkattomasti. Ryhmässämme oli 2 aikuista ja yksi 15 vuotias. Viivyimme hotellissa viikon. Huonesiivous toimi sitä parmmin, mitä enemmän jätimme rahaa siistijälle. Huoneen yleiskuva oli vähän nuhjuinen, mutta tarkoitus olikin vain yöpyä huoneessa, päivät vietimme New Yorkissa. Yöt olivat melko rauhallisia, vain parkkipaikalta kantautui moottorien hurinaa. Kuljimme bussilla New Yorkiin: tulopysäkille oli 5 minuutin kävelymatka ja lähtöpysäkille 15 minuuttia. Bussimatka New Yorkiin kesti 15 - 20 minuuttia. Hotellia vastapäätä, tien toisella puolella, oli muutama edullinen ruokapaikka, joista haimme aamukahvit ja iltapalat. Kaikkiaan olimme tyytyväisiä hotelliin. Luteita ym syöpäläisiä ei ainakaan meidän huoneestamme löytynyt ;). Mielestämme, tämä hotelli sopii nuorille ja aikuisille, jotka arvostavat edullisuutta ja ovat omatoimisia.

The helpdesk people looked bored of their Job. Also , at 2am I woke up because my arm was itching. I found bedbugs on the pillow. I killed three of them and leave them as proof. They changed me of rooms and everything was fine but they did not offered any kind of making up for it. No discount or anything which I believe would at least convince me of […] going there again. I know bedbugs are accidents sometimes but at least try to convince me to come back. Also the breakfast is a joke, there is no space and no replenish. Difficult to find, because it wasn't well marked. Construction going on around hotel. Very convenient to appointment.

Front desk was very nice. They were in the middle of construction, so the appearance was horrible. Very low water pressure in room. wallpaper seemed to be cheaply installed and peeling. Bed was very nice, comfortable, and clean. Nice TV with decent channels. Expensive for what the room looks like and the hotel offers.

"Looks Like a Pig Sty - But Actually A Hidden Gem!"
When I booked it online it looked like it was going to be a decent place. I was traveling on business in Mt. Arlington and looking for something inexpensive but decent. When I pulled up, I passed by it assuming "that dump CAN'T be the place". But...it was. Again, pictures can be deceiving. But when I went into the lobby you could see that they were […] in the middle or renovating the place. I understood the outside looking dumpy after that. And the service I got from the man at the counter was the BEST I've ever recieved, bar none, while traveling. Just all around exceptional. The room turned out to be pretty decent. Again, it's old, so you see the wear and tear on the ceilings and awnings in the room. But honestly, it was pretty much a 2 star location from the interior. Not extravagant but decent. The reasons why I would stay at the hotel again were a) it was very convenient to the highway, b) it was EMPTY - which was like a hotel to ourselves, and c) the service was fantastic. "Hotel Rockaway. The hotel for a quick getaway"
I had a nice time at the hotel. For the price it wasn't much to complain about. It was New Years weekend at I had a nice time with my gfriend. She did forget her jacket there but with some persistence I was able to get it back. Overall, great place and even better coffee.

This hotel came as a very pleasant surprise while I was on business at Picatinny Arsenal, which is less than 10 minutes from the Best Western. The front-desk staff was unbelievably helpful and friendly, and my room was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. The room was decent. not too cheap looking and not to fancy...after being in the room for less than an hour, all of a sudden the bathroom started leaking from the ceiling. The water was pouring down and the floor was getting flooded. I called the front desk to report the problem and was assigned a new room. "Not bad"
We stayed here for one night as a place to crash after a concert. The room was comfortable, there was cable tv and not just the standard hotel cable channels, there was like a 1000 channels. "Great rate for a good room."
I had a pleasant experience at this hotel. The staff was very polite and helpful. I was really only there for a night to catch some zzz's before heading out early the next morning. My only complaint was that the shower didn't have a curtain. It wasn't a huge deal to me because I was more intersted in getting rest than in how much water ended up on the […] bathroom floor but outside of that small detail, it was a good stay at a good price. "right off the hiway"
The room was unexpected as it had two rooms !! One with a bed, the other - more like a living room. The bathroom was also double sized with body jets in the shower. Nice low rate via hotels.com.

"Low cost, right off the highway"
This is an acceptable, lower cost hotel located near my relatives in the area, and I've stayed here a couple of times over the years. The morning continental breakfast is fine, but don't expect eggs. The diner across the street is fine. Fast food is a few miles away as is the Rockaway mall with it's food court.. I suspect this hotel doesn't get enough […] traffic to allow it to make the long-planned investments. The pool remains in disrepair. I didn't check the banquet room which was under construction last time I was here. The snack machine has some good choices for the traveller on the road. "Best Western Rockaway, NJ"
We were greeted by a friendly hotel staffer & reservations were in order. No real complaints with room or hotel in general. It was a bit hard to find but that was mainly because we weren't familiar with the area - not the hotel's fault (in fact it's about a mile directly off I-80). Recommended.

"cleanliness"
the hallways carpets were wet from a leak in the janitor closet. it leaked for the three days we were there. they advertise a pool it looked like ut hasent been used in years. it was empty with 6" of filthy water .

"CLEAN BUT NOT FOR ME"
If you need a room it was clean, if your a bussiness traveler you may want to look ot other options. The pool was from the movie Vacation and nothing close by.

The overall Hotel experience was positive. However, one of the reason I make my decision in a hotel is if there is a breakfast in the morning. When I booked my room, which was very nice and had a nice view of the pool, the description stated that there was a breakfast. When we got up in the morning there wasn't anything in the lobby other than coffee […] and apples. If there is not a breakfast in the morning, it should not be stated in the description. It was obvious that the hotel was an old Howard Johnson hotel that hadn't been updated in a number of years. While the room was clean, it and the common areas did show wear. "Good Stay at a Bargain Price"
Although this is a no-frills hotel, it is clean and updated. The front desk clerk was very friendly and the fact that a continental breakfast was included in the rate made it even more of a bargain.

This hotel was good for the price. Nothing fancy, but the room was clean. They have free breakfast, which is basically fruit/muffins. The "breakfast area" is just some chairs and tables in a hallway, but it is an old building that they had to work around. Keep in mind it is 2 floors and there is no elevator. I didn't really deal with the staff that […] much since I basically was only there to sleep, but they seemed friendly enough. The first night I was there I tried to turn the TV on and discovered it didn't work. I went to the front desk and the guy was very nice about it, and went up to the room and tried to fix it. It was 12:30AM, and there was no maintenance people on duty. He said he would leave a note for the morning. Long story short I told them about it again the next day, but it still was not fixed by the end of my stay. The Wi-Fi worked so I just streamed some shows on my Laptop. :) I stayed in a room with 2 double beds (by myself) keep in mind that if you sleep in the bed by the heater/air conditioner you get air blowing on you all night. Also on the last night I tried to get something from the vending machine in the hallway and it was broken. There were others to choose from but i didn't feel like finding another. You can't beat this place for location, value, or friendliness of staff. The only negative aspect was we had to ask the desk staff for the correct number of towels twice, along with a Privacy placard. The Wi-Fi was a breeze, as was the printer in the business center. "Best Western Rockaway - Good Enough"
It was about what one would expect. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. Honestly I only had two real issues. The first that the wireless Internet was INCREDIBLY slow, far slower than I had experienced anywhere else. The second was that for some reason the AC was on and the room was set to 60F, even though it was November. It warmed up quickly […] enough, but that was obviously a bit of a shock. The diner across the street is fantastic. The location is good and provides easy access to the highway. If you're looking for a cheap stopover with no frills then you can certainly do worse. room was good for the money...location was right off the exit with two gas stations and a 24 hour diner all within walking distance...would stay again if i was going to be in that area
"Clean but don't expect breakfast"
The room was comfortable and clean, don't expect to sleep in as the sweeper is run in the hallways starting at 8:30 am every morning. The diner across the street is great for breakfast which is great since the free continental breakfast isn't much.
