comfortable room but in need of remodeling. the spa tub has many stains and cracks and cigarette burns all over the room. (ex- spa, bathroom, dresser)

I was satisfied with the price, free beer and free breakfast.

The motel room is older, but clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the free breakfast the next morning. Eggs, sausage, potatos and the best waffles made by Adrian!

April 2012 Judging by the pictures I saw on the website I knew this wouldn’t be a high end hotel but should meet the needs of my family during our visit. However, upon our arrival the exterior of the hotel did not match our expectations. All doors faced outside towards the main road, with noise filtering up to our room. The parking lot is shared by […] a restaurant, which is where the breakfast options would be provided. The pool was closed for use. Once we checked into the room, we found that the furniture was very well worn. The room was clean but I felt it had not been updated in many years. While this would be sufficient for weary traveler looking for somewhere to crash for the night, it didn’t meet our expectations for a two night stay during a college campus visit. We contacted Hotels.com and arranged for a change of lodging. The person we spoke with was very helpful and moved us to the Embassy Suites. The process was quick and smooth. There was, of course, an adjustment in price but no additional fees were added for the change. On the plus side, the lobby manager at the Aspen hotel was very pleasant and accommodating to our change of lodging. From the pictures, I invisioned a gated hotel on a golf course with a luxurious room. NOT SO! Almost missed it right on the street. A VERY OLD place. Not enough towels in room and NO washcloths. Our 2nd room was extremely nice. First room they didn't inform us that animals stay there and my allergies went crazy. But they were awesome when I asked for a room change and 2nd room was even nicer.

The room was very worn but clean. There is a need for new mattresses. However, the breakfast is FANTASTIC! Not just the waffles but eggs, sausage, toast and great service. All of this for the low price was a great and tasty surprise.

We arrived late at night after flying in the flagstaff, getting a car and finding the hotel. My teenage daughter and I were tired. The hotel clerk was so helpful. After checking us in he walked to the room, even though it was below freezing and snow everywhere. He made sure we were in. It made me feel very welcome.

We had a very nice and pleasant stay. Room was clean. Clean towels and bed sheets. Breakfast was good. It was convenient for us because we did not have time to drive around and look for a restaurant or a coffee shop. If you need the place just to sleep then this is your place. Very nice inexpensive hotel

I paid extra to have a ”presidential suite” once I opened the door it smelled of cigarette smoke. it was supposed to be a non smoking room. I would not have been able to tolerate it for more than five minutes. When I called the front desk to ask for a different room, it took them almost an hour to give me an answer, by then I had already sent my husband […] to the office. Enjoyed the personable staff at the desk and breakfast. The kitchen had a refrigerator, microwave and sink, but it would not be possible to cook on the stove with no pots, pans or cutlery. Although signage stated these items might be available to borrow - it was not. The public hot tub in the exercise room was not available but our in-suite jacuzzi […] worked great! Hotel is not "new" but the room was clean and well ordered. It was a great place to spend a couple of days "snowed in" in March! Snow removal efforts could have been better, but they did try! The hotel is what appears to be a renovated motel 8, but is very well done. The beds are very comfortable, staff is friendly, and the room was very clean. It is a great price and near downtown on the main road, perfect for visiting NAU students living on north campus.

We have stayed at the Aspen a few times now and each time we have never been disappointed. And we have been in 3 different sized rooms. This time we stayed in the Presidential Suite and it was wonderful. The room was clean, large and the bed was very comfortable. It is a very nice place to stay and within walking distance to a great little craft beer […] bar that just opened called Hops on Birch. Although it is an older hotel and not of the highest "fit and finish", the Jefferson Presidential Suite is clean and comfortable. The front desk staff is friendly and accommodating. Next to the train tracks (but anything along Route 66 is going to be). Wasn't loud enough to be an issue though. my wife and I and our 3 children went to Flagstaff with a view to taking in the creator and lowell observatory.... the aspen was quiet comfortable and suited our needs perfectly... the money you spend on the room is paid back in full and a couple of times over in what your proivided with... was impressed with the TV's and the bathroom cleanliness

It is more of a motel than hotel with outside room entrances. The TVs are large wide screens and the beds rather comfy. Other than that, just average.

Needs refurbishing. Holes in bedding. Awful sofa bed. No reliable way to connect to the Wi-Fi. Masking tape still covering kitchen light; apparently no one inspects the rooms.Not worth the price.

IF you come in on Amtrak this is your place to stay. Y0u call them when your train arrives and they call a cab and pay for it. The breakfast was satisfying, with a very friendly staff. I will remember this one again..

Stayed while moving from San Diego to Oklahoma City with a detour to the canyon. Not a bad place to stay. The check in process was smooth. Clerk at the desk recommended a restaurant (Kachina?) that was down the street and it was a good recommendation in my opinion. Room overall was comfortable. -Free breakfast=awesome. The attendant makes you the waffles […] and brings them to your table. That guy was always on the move keeping the tables clean and everything stocked while managing to serve others. Definitely leave the guy a tip in his jar, he deserves it. -Close to the Grand Canyon, not as close as other hotels on this site, but for the money it was worth it. Cons: -Don't stay in the winter if you want to freeze to death after showering. Bathrooms are updated but they aren't insulated very well. It was 30* outside and about 25* in the bathroom. -Across from a busy set of railroad tracks, constantly setting off car alarms all night. -Raise the bathroom sink/counter to normal height for the upstairs rooms. I stayed here with two other people. For very little money we got a hotel room for a night, each of us got two beers at the 'social hour' and a huge breakfast in the morning - what an incredible deal. The breakfast is pretty great, those Belgium waffles are so yummy and lots of other things are provided. Dont be fooled by the nice pics on the web site! when my husband and I arrived late that evening absolutely exhausted we were given a room which the key didnt work! we were freezing just wanting to get in and sleep! my huband had to run back to the office and the gentleman said he couldnt deal with this at the moment so he will just upgrade us to the […] suite! we thought hey this is gonna be great! oooh my goodness! WOW! the place looked dirty and dated from I dont even know what era but it was bad!! I guess what made it a suite was that there was a seperate door to get into where the bed was however u would have to squeeze in because the door did not open fully because the bed was too big! Note: just take the door off! on this very large bed was 1 pillow and it had no heavy blaket just dirty sheets! yuck!! My husband was furious probably because he could see in my face how grossed out I was! he went back into the office to get our original room key. We stayed in Memphis when it was super cold and remembered the gal told us if it didn't work to keep trying it just needs to warm up. Thank goodness my husband got the door to open! this room was much nicer more like the pic we saw on the internet. The pictures looked good, some of the reviews were good, so we figured why not? First of all, it is across from a train yard; if you can sleep thru trains all throughout the night and don't mind graffiti everywhere, than I guess it's ok. The bathroom had mold and was less than well kept. There was a chair in the room that had a metal bar coming out […] of it (my leg was kind enough to find), i told the girl behind the counter and she said "oh, ok." The 'diner' they say you eat at, is a room next to the pool with diner decor and typical food from any hotel. There was no room to park the RV, especially because there were 2 tour buses parked in the middle of the parking lot, taking up every space. The only thing good about the place was the fact that there was a Starbucks next door and an Albertsons(so we could find at least something to eat. I was moving from Chicago to Los Angeles & stopped here on my third night. I had called ahead prior to making reservations to ensure there would be convenient parking as I was pulling a trailer. Staff was helpful in explaining how I would park but did not mention that the entrance from the street is quite narrow & uphill. I called the hotel from a nearby […] grocery store parking lot because I had to be sure I would not get stuck pulling in. Staff was again helpful but had I known the way the facility was situated I would have booked a room at a hotel closer to the expressway with a parking lot with better accessability. First floor room was old & accessible to parkinglot. Tour bus was loading in the morning with alot of traffic passing windows. Breakfast area was large but in seperate building. I always stay here when I visit my kids at NAU. It is like my home away from home. Warm, comfy, quiet and affordable. The free breakfast is great and Adrian is so nice! I will always stay here when in Flagstaff.

good deal just to spend one night in Flagstaff, very convenitently located along route 66 close to bars/restaurants. Breakfast wasn't good - so don't count on it.

The clerk at the desk after securing a reservation 1\2 hour earlier had not received a fax from Hotels dot com. After I called all the sudden he said, "Oh I just received the fax now". The additional concern was the non-smoking room upstairs was full of smoke odor. Not to metion the room provide downstairs was below loud disrespectful young adults who […] were noisy past midnight. We have used this hotel for years. But now between the bad plumbing and new 'to good for you' guests we're not sure we'll be back.

It was ok. If you don't mind rolling into each other in bed. Close to resaurants. Good enough for price.

After reading the reviews I was a little unsure about the hotel - but we loved it. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast, especially the waffles which were amazing. Brilliant for the price.

I've stayed here 3 times now and unless they drop the ball this is my go to place to stay in Flagstaff Az. I have family here, so I'll be back. I especially want to commend you for retaining the services of Adrian in the brunch buffet. His eagerness to see that we were well served hasn't diminished over the years I've stayed here; what a credit he is […] to your business. He's friendly,serving, and will engage you- but not intrude. Great value for the money. The room condition was nice and the stay included a full breakfast. I would stay there again.

I read other reviews about this hotel and was a little nervous. Arriving there, I found the hotel to be perfectly fine (especially for the cost of the room). The beds were very comfortable and there are large TVs and mini fridges in the rooms. I had two adjoining room and one of the bathtubs looked like it had been patched (appearing to be a dirty tub, […] but was actually clean). The other room had an upgraded bathroom with a great shower (including an adjustable shower head). Some rooms are nicer than others and it is a little bit of a gamble, but I was happy with both of my rooms although one was clearly a nicer room. The hotel staff was very nice and friendly. This is a great place to stay if you're looking for an affordable place close to the mountain. But it's not a bit run down and needs an upgrade. We stayed in one of the "presidential suites" with a hot tub, which contains a King size bed and a separate living room with a kitchenette. The hot tub was more of a large tub that is in the bedroom (no jets […] or heating system). Moreover, the heater didn't work in the bedroom, which is probably for the best because if it was as loud as the one in the living room, we would have turned it off. The living room heater was enough to keep us warm. On the plus side, the hotel tries their best. There's a decent breakfast buffet and they have a FREE happy hour for a couple of hours every evening -- beer and wine. Note, the hotel doesn't have a DVD player available for use as advertised.
