Americas Best Value Inn - Williamsburg

My friend and I esch rented rooms for our families. Both rooms smelled badly of smoke. OK. We are in Virginia after all. The toilet was broken and I thought it was going to come up off the floor. As if the only thing holding it in Place was the pipe. It smelled bad too.

The photos DO NOT represent the true value of the accommodations provided AT ALL! The price appeared to be reasonable; however, what was offered and what was delivered was totally the reverse. I will give the hotel credit. I arrived late in the evening and check-in was a breeze. Unfortunately, that's it for convenience/comfort. Upon entering the room […] there was a stale stench of aroma. The bed was relatively suitable; however, the furniture was not in the best condition. The sink/counter top was falling apart. The towel rack and shower curtain were separating from the wall. As if that was not enough, the phone system did not work properly. To exacerbate matters even more, the hotel advertised a continental breakfast; however, there was no food! At 8:30 am, we entered the breakfast area. There was not even a styro foam cup nor water to drink. When I asked individual at the counter "The reservation advertised a continental breakfast. Is there a breakfast?" The response was "Yes, No! The food truck hadn't arrived and we are waiting for it." I return around 9:45 am, I went to check on breakfast. The breakfast was still was nowhere to be found! Not even a cookie was offered (as illustrated in the online photos). I can understand some misfortunes; however, not even an apology or "SORRY!" Don't waste your money at this particular hotel. You are better off sleeping in your car. At least there you are likely to find a potato chip or water? Good location. My room had a lot of problems. No cups or glasses. No clock. The tub's faucet was coming off the wall. The TP was extremly low. The room had a strange smell. I do not intend to return to this hotel. They did not provide maid service during the two days I was there.

Clean room, reasonable price, and a large room. I would not hesitate to stay again.

The hotel is somewhat dated but was OK for the price.

the hotel was adequate for our needs...pretty much just sleeping and showering...it is showing it's age and is in need of some repairs and gardening maintence...the staff was helpful...

Upon arriving we noticed a large number of people who looked like they "lived" at this hotel. We had an open-bed trailer with all of our vacation belongings and were up most of the night worrying about it because there were so many people just wondering around, sitting in their cars and standing in front of our room smoking cigarettes. We specifically […] requested a sofabed room when making our reservations. We had no sofabed and there were no more rooms available. We also had family coming the next night and had reserved additional rooms for them with sofabeds and again, they got rooms with no sofabeds which made sleeping arrangements VERY difficult. At the office, I asked to speak to the manager but was told he was not available. I asked for him to contact us during our stay. He never did. When we got home, I sent an e-mail to the corporate office. I got a response from them stating that they forwarded my complaint to the management at the hotel and they would respond. Again, they never did. All-in-all, it was an awful experience. The worst part was not feeling safe, especially when traveling with our children. The room smelled really bad and the pillows, bed spread and towels in the room were all with stains. I will never go to this hotel again.

all in all every thing is okey but the carpet has some kind of smell.

Excellent accommodations for family - sofa bed was very nice addition to our room and need for extra space. This hotel was close to everything in WIlliamsburg - the Colonial Village, Busch Gardens, Restaurants and shopping. Would definately stay here again. Nice dining room for breakfast as well as pleasant staff.

well, the price was great, staff was very nice- but room reeked of smoke, damp, and old. The bathroom ceiling looked like it was made of toliet tissue and was peeling away. The Tv screen quality was so grainy hard to make out the movie we watched. Thankfully I had brought some oust to disinfect everything- the linens on beds had too many holes to count […] and had to convince ourselves that some of the hairs on the inner cover were leg hairs. the check out time listed on hotels.com was noon, but hotel said was 11am. Its cheap and fairly well located but that is all you will get if you choose to stay at this place. The room was filthy. I've got no clue as to what the mattress was made of but it was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever slept on. I actually got every little sleep because of how uncomfortable the bed was. over all a nice place to stay, nice size pool -- seemed well maintained. the AC in my room did not put out as well as i wanted. my room i ordered for 3, did not have a fold out sofa. as in the pictures. had a power outage in the morning that knocked out the alarm clock -- so i did not get the breakfast which ends at 9:30. parking for the inter court […] is a distance. Several things were broken in my room including the handles to the dressers. Two of the lights were broken, one by the door and the bathroom light. I told the front desk about it and they told me I should wait until morning. Completely unacceptable. GREAT LOCATION CLOSE TO EVERY STORE N EATING. PLACE... LOVE IT.. I DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN..

We stayed here for two days and was able to check in earlier than we thought which was nice. The hotel is an older one with old fixtures but overall nice if you want to save money.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The room wasn't in the best shape, though not the worst either. The cleanliness was acceptable, but not great. The location was wonderful, right around the corner from Colonial Williamsburg and in the middle of restaurants and stores. Location is great, Golden Corral, Cracker Barrel, Walgreens all nearby. Room neat and clean, nothing fancy. Saturday breakfast begins at 7:30, too late for me.

We chose this motel because it was rated 3 stars and was given a 10 out of 10. It was neither. It had a "hidden" charge of $1.50/ day for a safe unless you tell the front desk to remove the charge. The front desk closes from 11 pm to 7:30 am so don't plan on arriving late or leaving eary. The room had a tub without a plug and a wobbly toilet. The ice […] machine was broken. Great place for the price

I often read the reviews to get a good idea for where to stay, so I hope this helps. I really liked staying at this hotel. We arrived at 2am and even at that time the staff was great. There are good places to eat around the hotel and the price is incredible. Definitely recommend it.

If you are only looking for a place to rest your head after seeing the sights, this hotel will suffice. There is nothing fancy. Beds were adequate. Plenty of hot water. No mold smell or mold in bathroom. There was no hairdryer. There was bracket but the dryer itself was M.I.A. We called the clerk who said she could not find one and that she was sorry […] but would tell the maintenance man when he came in the next morning. Would this hotel be my first choice? NO. I was with a group of 4 adults that went to Busch Gardens for Howl O Scream. For the price we paid, I honestly did not expect much from this hotel, However, the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the continental breakfast was good. The hotel is about 15 minutes from Busch Gardens with easy (back road not interstate) access in and out of the park. I would definately stay there again and reccomend this hotel to anyone. clean, convenient, and cheap!

hotel was located well for our needs, clean and simple services. staff was fast and efficient. room needs updating. good for a one night stay.

I had a very mixed experience at this hotel. The room itself was clean (although I found it foolish that the soap dispenser was at the sink outside of the toilet) and the hotel was close to several places to eat and about 5-10 minutes away from Williamsburg attractions. The desk attendant was hesitant to look into changing my room for me until I put up a little bit of a fuss. Also, I was greatly incensed because it was 95 degrees the day we were there, and I was informed that the hotel pool would not open until the day after memorial day. It was a perfectly clean and usable pool, and I found it very annoying that the pool was unavailable for use (apparently this is a law in all of Virginia?).
