Best Western Plus Historic Area Inn - Williamsburg

Itt was nice experience only one probelm is Elevator was not working.

Very convenient location to colonial Williamsburg and lots of places to eat. The hotel is older, but overall, it is nice.

We were very dissapointed with this hotel. The location was great. The hotel was fair. The room was very small for 2 adults and 2 children. The room was very clean. We were told we reserved a suite it was not available upon check in. The indoor pool was terribly dirty, so dirty we would not swim in it. Repulsive actually. The breakfast was decent, however, […] the space was too small for all of the people eating. The staff was not very personable or helpful. The gym was a joke. They had 4 pieces of cardio equipment, 2 didnt's work and the other 2 were dirty, old treadmills. We will never stay at this hotel again. We were disappointed in the breakfast offered as the room was too small for the number of rooms in the hotel. There were never any empty tables to accommodate our party of 3. Also, since the bagels were frozen, even 2 passes in the toaster did not warm them up. Location was fine as it was easy to get to area attractions. Unlike other Best Westerns we've been to, the breakfast had very limited items. No hot eggs or sausages. There was a wafflemaker, though, which was very popular among guests. The room carpeting looked a little old. The free WiFi was unsecure without login, and gave our laptop a malicious attack. We booked two nights at this hotel because many hotels in the area were booked. We read some negative reviews and were concerned about what we would find. We were pleasantly surprised to find a clean hotel with friendly employees and a great breakfast buffet. We highly reccomend the Peking Buffet across the street. Nice hotel, close to Williamsburg, food and shopping. Hotel was great with a couple of exceptions - pool area kept running out of towels and we would have to hunt someone down to get some. This hotel has many options as indoor pool, game area, laundry (coin washer and dryer), continental breakfast, rooms are upgraded and very clean. Great parking and location, close to so many dining options and stores. The service was excellent. About 10 mins to Busch Gardens.

The hotel was clean and the indoor pool was great. It was close to a mini-golf and restaurants were just down the road. I would defiinitely stay there again.

the receptionist was at best disinterested and unhelpful at check in.Hotel itself is ok but breakfast was chaotic with not enough seating, running out of food on numerous occasions with poor excuse (e.g. no bread or bagels one moring -- the van didn't arrive) ,no orange juice--in USA !. Very nice rooms and friendly staff. Everything was neat and clean. The beds were very comfortable. The htel is located near many attractions and stores. I will stay there for sure again....

Pillows were ancient and lumpy, made me wonder about cleanliness. Beds and sink were over normal height and challenge for shorter adults and kids. Breakfast was awful. Messy and unclean area. Quality and variety of choices was minimal. Great location and swimming pool.

The hotel is in a good location, pretty clean and the staff was friendly. The night desk girl (Sara) did not even know that the hotel had ajoining rooms(which it does), the king bed in my room might have come from jamestown circa 1608 and the breakfast was not up to its billing(not good at all). Stay was very nice. Nice pool, hot tub a little too hot. Breakfast good but could have used some variety. There was no vent in the bathroom. Not enough electrical outlets in room. Overall very comfortable. People who worked there nice with exception of one man fixing waffles got a little hyper.

The hotel was in a good location and was very clean and well maintained. It is located within a mile or so of Colonial Williamsburg and the Colonial Parkway. Very average hotel. Decent for a weekend trip to Busch Gardens. Nothing special. Breakfast is HORRIBLE...good think there is a Cracker Barrel across the street.

The Hotel was in a great location just minutes from Historic Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. Continental breakfast was OK - Waffles were great. Indoor pool with hot tub was fun. Room was clean, beds felt a little lopsided but were OK. Several good resturants within walking distance.

This hotel was the worst place I have ever stayed. After the first 2 nights, I noticed that my daughter and I were finding bites on our arms, legs and neck. These bites were NOT mosquito bites. I asked the staff if there were any complaints of bug bites. They were non-helpful and stated that they did not know what they could do for me. I insisted to […] be moved to another room and the shift manager made it seem like I had to move immediately and stood in my room while I frantically packed up all our belongings. In the "new" room, which looked like it was in the middle of a remodel, was not better. No pictures on the wall with what looked like a quick fresh coat of paint. We managed to sleep that night but the next day was worse.I found what appeared to be an adult sized bedbug crawling on a pillow. I told the staff I could not stay there any longer. I wanted refunded for my whole stay because of the bug situation. To kill bedbugs you must heat everything to 117 degrees F or higher and I needed to find a laundry mat and heat all my clothing and luggage to kill all possible bugs. The head hotel manager did not even contact me until the day after I checked out of the hotel and that was to notify me that they agreed to refund one night, which was the night that I checked out early and stayed at a nearby hotel.The head manager called stated that the bug I found was not a bedbug. It was a beetle of some type identified by the maintenance man. I inquired about the exterminator inspection. She also stated that their exterminator had been called but had not inspected the rooms yet. How is the maintenance staff qualified to make that judgment 3 days after a complaint? The management at this hotel is not serious about my complaint, unsympathetic towards our experience, and has no intention of inspecting the room. Good for the money, the room was clean.. For breakfast only cereal, fruit and pancakes, needs some improvement.

Good location; near many attractions; hotel staff could have been a little more friendly; This is supposed to be 100% smoke free, but someone was definitely smoking. The cigarette odor was still there in the morning, even though our complaint was checked out by one of the staff when we reported it.

My wife and I stay at this particular hotel was fair, our only problem was the night stand was loaded with ants. Behind the night stand it appeared that it was never cleaned, all around the edge of the wall and along side of the bed was full of crums. We was very nervous that they would get in the bed, for two days we killed at lease 20 to 25 ants during […] the day and night there. On the second night we called the front desk and they had some one to come and swop out night stands spray and vaccum around the wall and bed. On the last night there we may have killed 3 or 4 ants. When I was reading all the reviews about this hotel prior to my vacation time, I was very worried about all the comments but everything turned out to be excellent during my vacation time. Our family traveled to williamsburg for a long week end getaway, The hotel needs major updating but was clean. The stay was wonderful - everyone was friendly and helpful. breakfast was what you would expect for continental breakfast. checkin and checkout was seamless. will do this again

Nice Hotel Staff. Room needed some repair, metal trim at bathroom door missing. View out of window was looking at parking lot, and large power supply boxes. Overall good location and clean pool. We thought the free cont breakfast was poorly stocked, and therefor did not eat there 2 out of the 3 mornings.

Great stay - no problems whatsoever

We were at the hotel during a very busy time when students form all over the country were arriving for class trips. We reported a light out in our room and the message left on our phone in the room from a previous occupant. Neither item was addressed by the staff and were never resolved. However, the cleaning staff did an excellent job.

My daughter was playing in a volleyball tournament over the weekend. We rode with another Mom and her two children who play on the same team. The girls had planned to play in the pool when we go to the hotel. But...when we go to the hotel we learned they had cancelled and moved us to another hotel. The could not have cared less about the fact we could […] not stay at their hotel. There was gentleman at the desk clearly upset about his treatment. This is pretty much a middle-of-the-road hotel. The beds were particularly awful - I mean really very bad, but everything was clean and the service was good. We chose the Best Western Plus Historic Area Inn because of proximity to Colonial Williamsburg and because it showed a beautiful pool and jacuzzi area in photos. Location is great. The indoor pool was great. Except for the first day these two brat boys, about 8 and 10 yrs old that kept messing with the pool guys water hose. I guess he was trying to regulate the water or something and they kept pulling the hose out and spraying it everywhere. They wet my children with that really cold water a couple of times. We had to deal with […] it for like an hour before they finally left. We assumed that there parents worked there or something because the pool guy didn't say anything to them. The deluxe continental breakfast was good. Our hotel experience was going pretty well until our last day. On the day before we were going to checkout, which was a Monday, we noticed what we think was the weekday Hotel Manager . He was dressed in a shirt and tie and walking around everywhere, staring everyone down. He didn't say one word, just seemed like he was everywhere and always looked angry like he didn't want us there. This is the reason we checked out at like 1130 pm that night instead of the next morning. He really made my wife and I feel very uncomfortable, staying there with our children another night. My wife saw him that morning for the first time at the pool. When she got back to the room, she told me some jerk was walking around staring everyone down. We saw him a few more times that day and every time he just kept looking at us with this attitude. You would think being the manager he would say welcome or hello. Nothing, just dirty looks. Now that I think of it he was probably the father of the two brats at the pool the first day. They all had the same bad attitude. Anyway, if it wasn't for that guy we would probably return to this hotel next time in Virginia. The women who were at the front desk when we arrived on Saturday were very pleasant. Almost everyone except for that guy were pleasant. If you do stay there during the week keep an I out for the well dressed black guy who puts out this bad attitude.
