It's a good hotel. We felt safe, the rooms were clean and the guy at the front desk was super nice, he gave us recommendations on what to eat and what to do on Taos. Also this hotel is walking distance to 5 star burgers (the best burgers!!) I would stay here again.

Very dissapointed! the hotel was misrepresented regarding smoking rooms, the maid was rude the breakfast was really bad and the pool was ice cold. Over all not a good experiounce. I will never book a room there again!

This hotel is disgusting. The room wasn't clean, the sofa was torn, the bathroom was dirty. Just gross.

I booked this trip at the last minute but got such an amazing price. This is a great deal for any family's budget. The rooms are clean well furnished with everything you need close by. They have an indoor pool with free breakfast in the morning.

Although the facility is showing its age, it surprised me with a variety of features such as a free breatfast restaurant, an indoor pool, a pool table, campus style of motel buildings, friendly/knowledgeable staff, etc. I will definately stay with them next time if I come back.

I was not pleased with our stay. Although our stay was during winter, the sidewalks had not been cleaned and were icy, rooms on second floor were cold, pool was not in working order, no lounge and breakfast was cold.

Bed was worn, shower was literally so narrow that if you stand squared off to the shower head, your sides touch both the curtain and the wall. But...room was clean and quiet. Pool was nice and breakfast was a served meal with a menu! Pros and cons...take them as you will.

The pricing for a room here was much better than rooms in hotels in other cities. The room was fairly nice but the free breakfast was most impressive. It was served restaurant style instead of buffet style. It was a nice hotel for our ski trip and I will be staying here again

This hotel was very inexpensive for having such a great location in Taos. Probably the best thing about our stay here was the free breakfast each morning which was served more like restaurant style instead of a self serve breakfast buffet. The rooms were cozy (not the greatest) but I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

While the hotel was in relatively good shape and the customer service was great, the beds and bedding were in need of replacement. The mattresses were very old and felt like sleeping on a sheet over springs and the pillows were just thicker than the pillow cases. We had to get more pillows and double them up in the pillow cases just to have decent pillows. No […] plastic shower curtain liner was in the shower either. The hotel room was otherwise in good shape and extremely clean. Interesting setup where there are several smaller buildings with about 10 rooms each spread out over the hotel grounds. My husband and I came to Taos on business (we were performing at the Taos Inn). Unfortunately the Taos Inn could not accomodate us, so we stayed here instead. We thought the room was spacious and comfortable, the free breakfast was pretty good and the breakfast staff was excellent. The night front desk staff when we checked in were quite friendly, but […] the following day, when our room key was no longer working (which was inconvenient, especially when loading musical equipment), the front desk staff for the day shift was cold and unapologetic for the inconvenience. We were not expecting a "Five Star" experience. The rooms were "OK" and the daily maid service was excellent. However, we had mixed results with front desk service. One of the two rooms did not have an in-room refrigerator. We requested and did receive a refrigerator for the room. This was a good outcome. However, that was the extent of "good service". […] The reply to all other requests were "we will call you back." They did not call back. The hotel needs to improve their wireless internet service --- we could not access the net in our hotel rooms. This hotel is over a mile away from the main plaza in Taos, which is kind of a downfall. The beds were old, sheets were worn to almost shreds, and pillows were pathetic. Staff was very friendly and they give a free hot breakfast.

I have stayed here many times. I was disappointed this trip to find that the bar was closed due to construction although it looked the same as it did a year ago. I was also very disappointed to find that a deck had been built over the hot tub. These are two amenities that I look forward to after a long day of skiing. I will not be staying here again […] on my ski trips. If you don't need a hot tub or a bar, then this is a great place to stay and the price is right. The breakfast is still very good. The beds were very worn. Not a comfortable matress, and the cable was fuzzy. Hot tub was not operational. However, for the price of stay, it was worth it to me. My husband and I were more than pleased with our clean and comfy room, fireplace, and quiet environment. The rooms of the hotel need some updating and the beds weren't comfortable at all. The pool is nice for kids but the cemented area is SUPER slippery. OK. Breakfast serving/seating system is a little unorthodox. Coffee and Tea service was irregular, why not provide a dispenser like everybody else.

Light in bathroom flickered and then finally went out. Mildew under the rim of the toilet. Bathtub did not look clean. This hotel had a good location for me since it was near my friend's house. It is on the highway over a mile from town center, so if you wanted to walk there it would not be too convenient. The Don Fernando is a pretty big place but doesn't feel like it. The rooms are arranged in various sort of stacked buildings, kind of a Taos architecture. I stayed […] in the Georgia O'Keefe wing. I lucked out and got a room in the very back of the hotel off the highway, and it was super quiet. I left the windows open for fresh air even though it was a cool night. But because I had a fireplace and wanted to use it, I did. The front desk will give you a Duralog, but I also found a stack of wood from some trimmed trees and asked if I could have some, so I used that too. This is not a fancy place and the furniture is, shall we say, well-used. I had a king suite and a ton of room, fridge, microwave, coffepot, nice, big, well-lit bathroom. I stayed two very comfortable nights and didn't use any maid service at all, but every question or request I had was immediately taken care of. I also did not use the pool, but it looked nice and was busy. I only ate breakfast one morning and it was also quite tasty and is included in the price. Hotel could use a major renovation/repair of exterior appearances. The bathroom fixtures were water stained and grout discolored otherwise very clean. Room decor dark and dull but kept clean and in good repair. Very quiet area, staff was very courteous and helpful.

I was impressed with the cleanliness of the suite but the sofa bed was dreadful with a hole in the upholstery and no support in the bed part. The room was on a grassy courtyard but quite dark. The staff was very nice and we were able to bring along our dog. This is a very reasonable hotel to use as a base for visiting the Taos area.

We arrived early, but the front desk lady let us check in anyway. Thanks! The room was properly prepared, clean as a whistle, and totally free of smoke smell. We brought 2 small dogs, and weren't asked to pay extra for them. The grounds were perfect for dog walking. A doggie-bag dispenser was provided! Breakfast wasn't the usual small room, cereal, […] bananas, waffle maker, and 35 people at 8 am. It was a full sit-down breakfast in a nice, private restaurant. Several choices of meal, and coffee and O.J. No charge whatsoever. Nice tip justified! Located about 5 minutes from the downtown Plaza, with 2 possible routes there, in case of heavy traffic on the main road--not uncommon. I've stayed here before and rented this room because it had a fireplace. The hotel said they "weren't ready for the colder months" - had to search for logs and had no matches, had to borrow a lighter from the security guard (it got down to 36 that night). Also, they are a couple of miles from the town plaza and restaurants/bars/music, but the shuttle […] van only ran until 8 pm - early for dinner and missing all of the great weekend music - and a longer walk from the new brewery at the top end of town since there's no taxi service in Taos.
