It was a nice Hotel with being right in the action! But did not use the pool because there was always Sea Gulls swimming in the pool?
"Charleston"
It was not bad for the price and only a few miles to downtown Charleston.
Uneexpected surprise to find hotel located adjacent to nature walk and several great restaurants. Only 5 minutes away from Charleston visitor center. Our city and plantation tour left from there. Downtown shuttle also. Just wish we had more time to spend here.

"Shem Creek Inn"
A bit of a disappointment for the price. We arrived on a Wednesday and we had no maid service the next day. The next morning the breakfast was poor (no fruit). That was remedied the following day, as the weekend approached and rates were doubled. We did enjoy watching the pelicans and boats, and sitting outside for breakfast. "Maintenance Issues"
The staff is excellent and very accomidating. Unfortunatly we stayed on a weekend and maintenace was not available. The room stayed at 80 degress because the air conditioning did not work. We ended up leaving the sliding doors open to cool down the room which lead to fighting off mosquitos. Also after we arrived we had been in the room for about an […] hour when the cable box went out so we had no TV during our stay which when you have a 7 year old with is a disaster. "Shem Creek Inn"
This was an excellent hotel tor the money. We stayed on the side opposite the creek. It was very quiet. Some of the rooms on the Creek side could tend to be noisy due to the parting going on at the Water's Edge restaurant. We were there Thursday & Friday nite. Both nights seemed to have good parties going on. Not sure how long they lasted.

Nice location. Called front desk to advise them my TV was not getting a signal. They advised me the cable must be out. An hour and a half later, I called back and asked if anyone else had complained about their TV. There were no other complaints so they sent someone to my room who rattled some wires and it came on. "Shem Creek Inn"
I highly recommend the Shem Creek hotel. We stayed there 2 nights. Our event was across the creek, so it was very convenient. The view of the creek as it flows out to the port of Charleston,etc was beautiful. When we had trouble with our heater, maintenance was right on the problem. Loved the location. Note fancy yet didn't request a room on the water. Only coffee & cold continental breakfast but local restaurants very close by.

This was a great location to see Fort Sumter, plantations, Charleston, etc. Walking distance to some great restaurants. Very nice.

"eh just ok"
some of the rooms smell like someone has smoked in them and then the staff has used an ozinator to clear the smell out but doesnt work. Friend got married and stayed at the hotel and put him and his new bride in a room with TWO beds... um ya... not the smartest thing they did that night. ""Sham" on the Creek"
If you need to be within staggering distance to the bars and restaurants, then this is your place. I paid extra for a "creek view" room, but my creek view was obscured by the bars located immediately in front of it - seriously, I think I could have ordered drinks right from my balcony - and the noise was already at a pretty high volume at my afternoon […] check in. I immediately returned to the front desk to request a different room, but was advised that I would need to pay an extra fee on top of my extra fee for a quiet creek view room at the other end of the hotel. When I politely declined that offer, I was told I could speak with the manager when he arrived on duty at 11:00 pm. After a long day of travel, I had hoped to be soundly sleeping by 11:00 pm so I could be ready for an early morning meeting. I departed to get some dinner, hoping that the bar noise would have leveled off by then. Needless to say, the noise was even louder when I returned. I decicded to visit the front desk again and this time, the front desk clerk placed me in a different room on the opposite side of the hotel without a creek view, but at least it was quiet. "Lovely area"
The hotel is right on a lovely creek opening out to the Cooper River & bay area. It has a lot of personality. We are quiet people & there was plenty of space to find quiet in a very busy place.
we enjoyed our stay in sept 2011, every thing was clean very comfortable beds beautiful scenery. personal friendly and helpful hope to return soon will chose this place again
"Shem Creek - fun location, hotel needs updates"
For our first night in the Charleston area this was a fun choice. Several seafood restaurants & bars close by. It was relaxing to sit & watch the shrimp boats & private boats down Shem Creek. The hotel however is definitely not a 3 star. The furniture looks to be updated, but now they need to invest in the A/C & plumbing, etc.. Very noisy every time […] the air kicked on. The toilet must have needed repair, as we could hear the water refilling in the tank occasionally all night. Coffee pot in the room needed replaced, it would not work properly. Evidently housekeeping does not check the public areas throughout the afternoon & evening. During our 18 hr stay, the same trash was spilling out of trash cans in hallway restroom. Lisätietoja

While our stay was pleasant, enough, we were more than disappointed to discover that our hotels.com-booked room listed as "marsh-side" should have read "highway-side" and in our case, "Port-O-John" side, since this was our view of the nearby construction site. When we tried to change rooms to the "creek-side," a by far more pleasant view of boats and […] birds and dolphins, we were told we were stuck with our "online-booked" room. I am as upset with hotels.com, as I am with Shem Creek Inn. We canceled our Friday night reservation and booked (for the same price) a room at a luxury hotel in historic Charlston across from The Market. It's a fair distance to the beach, an easy ride across the bridge to the city. There's a beach bar and nice views of the shrimp boats, along the water's edge. A wounderful location and you really don't have to go anywhere to be totally entertained with plenty of food drink and music right next door, the hotel is however dated and in need of refreshing especially the lavatories(1986), the room was well cleaned and had enough room to not feel squeezed in , price was fair.

Brewed coffee in the room was nice, but breakfast could be improved, though I had a marvelous breakfast not far away (Pages').
Beautiful location, especially because we were looking for something on the beach but couldn't fit it into our budget, this was great. The pool is right on the creek, and dolphins swim up and down the creek to watch while you are poolside. The only thing that I didn't quite appreciate was that when we were first given our room, we were told about 20 […] minutes later that the AC in the room was broken, so they moved us down the hall. "Touristy but old"
The staff was very nice at the hotel, but this place is past its prime. The rooms were a bit pricey because it is located on Shem Creek, a popular tourist area. Rooms were clean, but worn. There are several restaurants nearby, but all catered to tourists and food was only fair.

Loved the location, beds were so soft and comfy...manage on duty 5/17/2011 was so helpful...he was very busy with the phones..but made us feel we were just as important...gave us time and attention to dinner places..He could not have been better...give him a raise..good help is hard to fine these days...

We were more than happy with this hotel. Check in was very quick and the room was great. We ended up in a corner room, which had a wrap-around porch and a big bathroom. Very spacious and clean, and a lot more windows than a typical hotel room would have. The location was great as it was walking distance to many restaurants,and there wasn't much noise. If you like to party ,eat seafood , and watch boats traveling the waterway then this is your place . Lots of restaurants/bars close by . Right around the corner from Patriots Point and the Ravenel Bridge to the Historic District . As far as other things , here's the reality . Hotel in need of upgrades . Elevator broke down and fixed three times during […] our stay . Housekeeping was not very good . Everything was done halfway . The door to the balcony will wear you out trying to go in and out . Needs help . The Continental breakfast was very limited . No business center . Internet access is available for laptops . Front desk not very helpful with questions . "Enjoyed Stay"
It was a nice room in a non-national motel. We enjoyed the area, the pool & the neighboring restaurants.
